Have no anxiety at all, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God. Then the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

Chin Up

.

The only way to prevent looking behind is to look up, I say. Chin up, eyes on the heavens. And because next week brings the Feast of Saints Joachim and Anne, and now that I am now praying the St. Anne Novena (thanks, Regan, and you can too -- no, it's not too late), I say let's have a Giveaway. Something pretty and pink maybe? I don't know, it's not yet made -- I just ordered the medal -- but come back next week and I'll show you. In the meantime, leave a comment on this post for a chance to win a St. Anne Chaplet. The prayers are simple, but so beautiful. I think I wish I had ordered two of those medals!

  4. Thanks for the chance to win, Barbara. Anne is my middle name, so this is a very special feast day for me. Your rosaries are beautiful. Can't wait to see what a pink St. Anne's chaplet would look like.

  5. Barbara, I've only known you through the blogosphere for a short while and didn't know you made rosaries. I would be happy to enter your giveaway! Thank you for the link to the prayers.

  8. Dear Barbara,
Please include me in this giveaway. As others said, your things are always so beautiful.
If it's OKJ, I'm going to send you an e-mail, which contains a petition, protesting the staging of a play at an American university about a play depicting the Blessed Mother as a gay. I signed the petition and am going to send it to others.
Please feel free to send it to others.
    Thanks,
    Gail

  9. Thanks, Gail. I already signed it but if you send it to me I'd be happy to forward it to anyone who would also like to put their name behind the petition.

  11. I started today too. My mother-in-law's name is Anne and her birthday is on St Ann's feast day!

I won one of your beautiful rosaries once and pray with it often, so you don't need to enter me.

  12. I'm praying it too! A funny thing (one of those "God-incidents") -- I was looking for a Novena to pray for my daughter and I was reading a beautiful blog that has a devotion to St. Anne and I thought, perfect...and I had ordered a chaplet through this same blog. Imagine my surprise when my daughter "Annie's" (the one I was looking for a novena for) birthday is the same day as St. Anne's feast day. I did not know that before -- gave me that warm fuzzy up my spine:-)

  17. Is it gluttonous of me to want more of your lovely handmade items in my home? I already have two baby quilts and a rosary . . . but count me in anyway!

And I just have to say this: you are hands down one of my favorite people to visit on the internet. Drat that Ohio/PA distance problem. :)

  18. enter me. me. me. please. please. please.

something pink and pretty and st. ann related? well! who could say no to that?

hope you are doing better after that incident you had at mass, dear one...my two cents is this...i don't ever judge other peoples' kiddos because mine are SO far from perfect...and teenage boys (i have 2, so i know how toddlerish they can behave) but they are young and carefree and still lacking a whole brain. we have to go easy on them. otherwise they might just hate the faith. they will relate it to stuffy, impatient, unkind peoples and that isn't good. for anyone.

a few weeks ago i sat in front of a young man who kicked my seat almost the whole duration of mass. it irritated me immensely because it was pretty much moving/thumping my "well-being" with every kick. i turned around a few times just to give him (and his mother who was sitting right next to him) a "look" that said: please STOP. but he didn't. and she didn't say anything. so i figured, well, i guess it was just going to be one of those things where i had to turn the other cheek. (i am not witty like sarah o.) now, when i am an old granny...at the age of "i-don't-care" like fr. corapi used to say(dare i mention his name?). i hope that i have the same level of patience...and even humility.

just know that from my mama heart to yours...i pray for you to find peace...even with your misbehaving children...it is always my prayer for myself...because it is so easy to let things bother us...things which, in the end, or in the light of eternity...just really didn't deserve so much time and attention. our kids are little for such a short time. and it really is too bad that for a good part of that time they are SO naughty! but then again we ALL fall short of the glory of God.

    love to you.
and i hope you stay cool in the eye of your little tropical storm!
    xo.

  21. This would be wonderful! We are praying the St. Anne novena, for a special family intention. And you know my daughter's name-day is the 26th ... If I win, I'd share with her, I promise! =)

  24. Ooo!! Please enter me, Barbara! I'm also catching up on blog posts. I've been having daily headaches for the past 3 weeks. I got a break yesterday and I'm fighting one now. Sigh. Time to pray the novena.

  25. I can hardly wait to see it! I think I'll join in the novena but since I've won your lovely Rosaries before, I will abstain in favor of others who sound more in need. I think it's cool there are so many Ann(e)s! My mom's middle name is Ann.

She is a most wonderful saint and deserving of more attention. After all, she is Jesus' Grandmother. I always loved my grandmothers so how could it be different for Him? ;)

  27. Barbara,

What a wonderful giveaway. Your work is so beautiful.... I still have my rosary and my Mary bracelet that you made me!

Could we also ask for your prayers... hubby and I have experienced two miscarriages since January and we wish to be blessed with a family. We appreciate it!
