Have no anxiety at all, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God. Then the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.
Phil 4:6-7

Peace be with you

.
Today's Gospel really spoke to me, as we enter into a season of parties, family reunions and summer visits. It is so easy to get caught up with the opinion of others. It's easy for me to become internally agitated with the opinions of the world. But, it's nice to be reminded that I can keep my peace, if necessary, and take it with me when I go.

Jesus said the apostles: As you go, make this proclamation: 'The kingdom of heaven is at hand.'Cure the sick, raise the dead, cleanse lepers, drive out demons. Without cost you have received; without cost you are to give. Do not take gold or silver or copper for your belts;no sack for the journey, or a second tunic, or sandals, or walking stick. The laborer deserves his keep.Whatever town or village you enter, look for a worthy person in it, and stay there until you leave. As you enter a house, wish it peace. If the house is worthy, let your peace come upon it; if not, let your peace return to you. Matthew 10: 7-13

  2. Barbara, I wonder if the apostles ever found it challenging to find "a worthy person in it" since the world of the time of Jesus was full of sin just like present times.

  3. I'm certain they did, Noreen. I know that we often think these times are so incredibly sinful -- more so than ever before -- but really, each time has its own troubles. We must learn to look at people like Our Lord did, and love the sinner, while hating the sin. A challenge of a lifetime, I say! Look at our beloved Mother Teresa. She did it so well, but then she was a saint! ;-)

  4. It's amazing how wonderful our God is and yet, our society exists as if there isn't one. I try very hard to look at people Our Lord did and it's easy when there is no confrontation but when there is... it's a struggle for me to keep my mind on Jesus.
