Have no anxiety at all, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God. Then the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

Busy, Busy Monday Daybook

.

I think this blog is beginning to get very boring, mundane, ordinary, repetitive; what do you think? I have all these posts in my head and not a moment to type them, much less make them understandable. Do you do that? You do, right? I need a ghostwriter -- someone to follow me around and snatch up those random thoughts when I throw them out, and then make them into the complete and coherent thoughts that they are in my head. I know...in the next life that will happen.

In the meantime, there's Daybook.

Outside my window...
...blue skies, slightly breezy, moderately cool (55 degrees F). In other words, perfect.

I am thinking...
...about my weekend. Except for the time change (does anyone in the entire United States like the time change? Who do we do this for again?) it was very, very good. Well, and then there was that open house at school on Sunday (booorrring). I guess it was Saturday I really enjoyed. I went on a road trip with Geoff, my college boy. He had asked, for his birthday, to take a little road trip to an outlet-type store to get some clothes. The rumor was there were "lots" of stylish brands available for cheap-cheap. Though we didn't find much in the stylish hot-brand-name department, we made out pretty well. I think we purchased six pairs of jeans, six pairs of socks, a belt, a half dozen undershirts, two hoodies, a pair of gloves and a scarf, three nice long-sleeved shirts, and about eight graphic tees for about $200. Some of the jeans and socks were for the other two boys, but Geoff made out pretty well. Better yet, we had a couple of hours of coffee drinking chatter in the car on the way over. He didn't put his ear buds in for a second -- just rambled about this and that and it was very pleasant.

I am thankful for...
...my dishwasher. I had to actually get back in the habit of putting dishes in the dishwasher and not the sink.

From the lesson plans...
... for Noah -- plant and animal cells in science (I wish I could get excited about this), the one true Church in Catechism, early American government in history and finishing LCI and beginning LCII this week.

For Faith -- the Fourth Commandment...I love covering this from a textbook point of view because they hear this, and hear this, and I think kids believe we're making it up for our own benefit. I like what the Faith and Life Series says about the Fourth and the Fifth Commandments. I really like this series -- it's a beautiful combination of the Catechism, scripture and explanation. Faith is also working on time in Math -- she gets it! -- nouns in English, contractions in phonics. This is a cruising week. I love third grade!

From the kitchen...
...a yummy Lemon Buttermilk cake I made yesterday afternoon, and we'll enjoy again today for dessert. Ronald Reagan's Favorite Macaroni and Cheese, Pan Roasted Brussel Sprouts, and homemade applesauce for dinner.

I am wearing...
...khaki trousers, a pink mock turtleneck, burgundy socks and my favorite brown Haflinger clogs. No jewelry or makeup and I can't find my scapular (have you seen it?). I think it must be inside a shirt in the laundry. I guess it will be clean when I find it. ;-)

I am creating...
...two St. Michael rosaries, a car rosary, a seaman's cap, a scarf for my niece and I just started a white lacy scarf for Faith. I have plenty from which to choose whereever I am. If only I had a minute.

I am reading...
...A Bold, Fresh Piece of Humanity. I have mixed feelings about Bill O'Reilly on most days, to be honest (although he is doing much better in the pro-life arena, so I feel more positive than negative right now) but I will say he usually makes sense, and he's brutally honest which I appreciate. I also appreciate his fondness for his late 1950s Catholic school education. I can definitely relate.

I am hoping...
...that time will slow down between now and Thanksgiving. I have so. much. to. do.

I am hearing...
...Noah yawning at the school table. Faith whispering to herself while she copies a picture of the earth from the DK encyclopedia. (That's science, right?)

Around the house...
...laundry, and more laundry. As I loaded the bags of clothes into the car from the "outlet" store, I asked Geoff if he intended to wash the clothes before he wore them. He gave me a look like, "are you kidding me?" All I could think of was bed bugs, and so I said I would take them home and wash them (Why oh why would I want the bugs in my house? I can't answer that.) Other than laundry I need to scrub the carpets this week. Yeah.

I am going...
...to deliver clothes to college boy. They are washed and dried and ready to be loaded in the van this afternoon. I didn't see any bugs either.

One of my favorite things...
...November. Still. I love Thanksgiving. I love the beginning of Advent. I just wish it would slow down so that I could enjoy it.

I am praying for...
...three soldiers now, and Kimberly, the sweet recipient of last week's Mother Teresa rosary who is having knee surgery...so many others, all on my rosary.

A few plans for the rest of the week...
...my second True Devotion class and a night out with a friend.

A picture thought...
...Lemon Buttermilk Cake. Yum!

  3. I enjoy your posts, too! And I'm extra glad you posted today because I've been meaning to ask if you know where I can get some rather inexpensive medals and crucifixes. I'm hoping the 3YO and I (mostly me) can make sacrifice beads for our bible study, but I don't want to invest much if I can help it...

  5. you boring? mundane? repetitive?
    i think NOT.
    i think you are wonderful!
busy-ness has a way of seeping into our hearts and making us feel scattered.
it's awfully hard to be "innovative" with posts and keep up when you have a very real life...by just being yourself, you inspire me all of the time!

  7. Thank you, Lori. I guess I'm bored with myself!

Thanks Sarah. My son said "thanks for bringing them down" when I dropped them off. And I added "and washing, drying, folding..." and his roommates laughed hard -- their mamas do NOT do laundry!

    Thanks, Regan. You're sweet!

You may, Cheryl. I still have a few pieces left! (and it's still good -- good recipe!)
