Have no anxiety at all, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God. Then the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

Back to Life

We had a nice break. I almost wish we had not taken one -- it's so hard to get back to work. I really enjoy days with nothing to do but laundry and cooking and sewing and playing.

Alas, now there is school work to do and squeezing all the other stuff in between math and English and science lessons.

Some of the sights from our week off:

One chaplet for someone far away. I love these blue beads.

And a rosary for someone near by (Shh! don't tell!).

A baby quilt went in the mail. Isn't she cute?

This -- Faith's First Holy Communion dress -- did not get touched. I'm a chicken. I have done it before, but each time I get so scared. I confess that it's the zipper that scares me. Knowing that I could easily screw up $70 in fabric does it every time.

My first loaf of Artisan Bread in Five Minutes a Day. Yum. There was a lot of cooking last week -- in my spare time (wink) I'll try to catch up on recipes at Bless Us O Lord.

  1. When my mom made flower girl dresses for my girls, she first practiced on an old sheet.

I love the bread! I've been making it too. It is so quick, I have even had time to make my own tortillas and burger buns for other meals during the week!

By the way, I've been meaning to ask you a rosary question. A friend gave me a rosary made from rose petals (I think) that was blessed by Pope John Paul II. My kids broke it and I lost some of the beads. Is there a way to fix this treasured gift?

  2. Jenny,
I can probably fix it. I'd have to look at the beads to see if I can find (or make) a match, but even if the beads are not identical, at least you would have it back in one piece.

    Email me and we'll talk.

  7. Beautiful pics, Barbara :) The bread looks delicious...I'm off to make some for us. :) Are you putting in a regular metal zipper or an invisible one? I only put in invisible zips and love them. There is an invisible zipper foot needed to put them in - once I got the hang of it I decided to never go back.

  8. Thanks so much for your love and time. We love the blankey. So cute and pretty.

Looks like it was a great break...especially the prayers and bread. What else do you need?

My mother made my dress also. Wish I still had it.

    Good luck sewing!
