Have no anxiety at all, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God. Then the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.
Phil 4:6-7

Life

.
Today, Respect Life Sunday, is the first day of ProLife Week in our country. Ironically, it is the week when we inaugurate the most pro-choice president ever elected. We must pray for him.

It is also the week when the most radical piece of legislature supporting the right to kill unborn children may be signed into law.

This week, more than ever, much prayer is needed. Our society has convinced many of its people, men and women, that the solution to an unplanned pregnancy is to make it go away. But, abortion is a false solution. Instead of having a pregnancy, after abortion, a woman has a dead baby. Instead of facing the challenges that come with raising a baby or placing a baby in an adoptive home, a woman faces a lifetime of grief and guilt and emptiness.

Please pray this week. Pray that our new president, and pro-choice members of congress, have a transformation of heart. Pray that legislators who are on the fence on this issue, side with Life. Pray that Catholics everywhere become united on this issue, following the example and message that our pope has given us.

Almost a year ago I created this pro-life rosary, and I still have it. An idle rosary is wasted, so I am going to give it away in order for more prayers to be heaven-sent. If you will join me in praying for the unborn, just leave a quick word, or just your name and your email addy (or blog address), in my comments, and I'll put your name in the drawing on Wednesday.

Respect for Life Prayer

Gentle St. Francis
you were so devoted to the humanity of Christ.
Your heart burst with appreciation toward God
for taking on human life.
You saw beauty and goodness in all living things -
in birds that sing,
the fish that fill our waters,
and all that lives in nature.

Help us to imitate your reverence for life
wherever it may be.
Especially, humble Francis of Assisi,
help us to help others
to see the worth of each living,
unborn baby sheltered in its mother's womb.

May all mankind have the grace
to understand that these tiny,
budding lives have the right to live,
liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
Amen

  4. That's a beautiful rosary. It would be a great reminder to pray for an end to abortion and for our elected officials.

  9. Beautiful prayer! The battle has intensified and we Christians need to make our voices heard...we must speak and be heard for the most vulnerable who have no voice.

  12. Barb:

Praying, praying, praying. It's so very hard right now, to watch a world in adulation of that which we abhor and yet it is perhaps the most fitting reminder of what we must do, how the fight must go on, lest we tire! Blessings to you for all you do in the fight for life!
