Have no anxiety at all, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God. Then the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

Movie Night

.

I fear if these blood clots don't resolve themselves this blog may go from being Catholic homeschool mom blog to movie review blog.

Last night Doug and I enjoyed Amazing Grace. Unlike most folks, Doug and I don't see movies when they are fresh at Blockbuster or Netflix. We put our name on the queue at the library and wait our turn. Then, when our name comes up, it's a big surprise -- it's been ages since I put our name on the queue for this movie. But, it was well worth the wait.

Based on the true story of William Wilberforce, the man behind the abolition of slavery in England in the late 18th century, this movie is full of beautiful language, music, scenery, and history. The star, Ioan Gruffudd (who my children tell me is in Fantastic Four and 102 Dalmatians) is very handsome -- a pleasure to watch, as is his love interest Romala Garai. But most enjoyable is Albert Finney) playing John Newton) whose voice I love to listen to.

This is a wonderful family movie (although the children might be bored by lengthy scenes in British Parliament) -- Doug noted after it was over that there was not one profane word uttered or inappropriate scene. It's a pleasure to see how the movie industry can make great movies when they want to.
