Have no anxiety at all, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God. Then the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

Not Much New

.

Thank you all for your prayers yesterday. As I suspected, it was a hard day. Doug said he was asked the same questions by each group he met (not only was it an eight-hour interview, but each hour was a different group interview -- ugh!). He was mentally exhausted when he came home and said if it happens, then it's because it's meant to happen. I guess that's the way most things are, we're just not always so patient.

This week is the graduate's final exams. Sadly, I think he's just shooting to pass. I suppose after four years of being challenged academically he's ready for a rest. He is still a high honor roll student, so I'm cutting him some slack. As long as he's not called back to re-take one (can't graduate unless you pass all of them), I'm not complaining.

Today the graduate gets his braces off, and I know he's happy about that. He had orthodontics very early (like second grade) and then he had some very stubborn teeth that wouldn't come in. After finding that they were blocked by his wisdom teeth, and then having the wisdom teeth removed four years ago, we still had to wait for those teeth to move. They were stubborn though and set in their ways, and finally had to have braces to pull them up. I know he wasn't counting on having braces during his senior year of high school, and really had his hopes up for losing them before graduation. So, when the orthodontist "made it happen" for him, he was very grateful. Now, when he graduates on Friday, he'll have a big pearly smile for us.

The electric company is ripping up my front yard this morning. We had two power outages over the weekend and after talking to someone from the electric company we found that the problem is in our own yard (how lucky!). Unfortunately, much of the rest of our neighborhood was out of power too, so this much be a pretty important line resting under our dirt. Doug was so pleased to know that they were ripping up his carefully-cared-for lawn just 10 short days before our big graduation party. C'est la vie!

I'm off to seize the day. Have a good one.

  1. Sounds like you are having a visit from Murphy, too. :-) He's bad company, unless you have a twisted sense of humor.
