Have no anxiety at all, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God. Then the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

Good/bad Tuesday

While the sauce for Paula Deen's Baked Spaghetti simmers on the stove, I thought I'd write a quick good/bad post. Real quick.

Good
As I just mentioned Paula Deen's Baked Spaghetti, I should start there. It's good, really good. One of my favorite "take to new mama, bereaved family, general somebody-needs-a-pick-me-up (me)" meal. I thought I was going to be at the dance studio while it baked, but as it turned out, I was there early and home now.

Bad
Paula Deen's Baked Spaghetti probably has a lot of cholesterol in it, so I'll have to eat a small portion and fill up on green beans.

Good
My stress test results from last week were normal.

Bad
I have no explanation for how I feel, which is still like there is a fish flopping around in my chest. I'm trying to eat more protein, per Jennie, and I checked to see if my very low progesterone could be causing it, but the gyn says no. So, I am going to have to put on my German and beat it.

Good
Faith is enrolled in three dance classes, two Seton classes, and we have, or have purchased, all the other books we need to start school in two weeks exactly. Lesson plans ensue...I have two weeks.

Bad
Faith says the above good is bad. (She would never do school if given a choice. Except dance.)

Good
My cousin Amy had her little girl today -- Margot Jillmarie -- weighing 6 lbs. 7 oz. by Caesarian section. That little stinker never did turn. Her middle name, if you've been a reader here long you'll know, is after her sweet aunt in heaven. My goodness, she will be well prayed for. Which will be good, because based on her before-birth behavior, she's going to be a stubborn little thing, just like her namesake.

I have nothing bad left, so that means I'm off to stir the sauce. Happy Tuesday. Oh, and it is so happy, God is good, all the time.

"Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice." Phil 4:4

PS. A beautiful quote from St. Bernard of Clairvaux, whose feast day is today. My great grandfather's name was Bernard, and he is Amy's great grandfather as well.

“In dangers, in doubts, in difficulties, think of Mary, call upon Mary. Let not her name depart from your lips, never suffer it to leave your heart. And that you may more surely obtain the assistance of her prayer, neglect not to walk in her footsteps. With her for guide, you shall never go astray; while invoking her, you shall never lose heart; so long as she is in your mind, you are safe from deception; while she holds your hand, you cannot fall; under her protection you have nothing to fear; if she walks before you, you shall not grow weary; if she shows you favor, you shall reach the goal” -- St. Bernard

  2. Thanks, Sara. I'm glad, too, except I still have a mystery. I am, apparently, full of them.

  3. Glad to hear the results are OK!
I printed off the St. Bernard quote to read to my children tonight. Thanks for posting that.

  4. I hope you are feeling better soon. We've been short on meat for the past few weeks, so have been eating a lot more vegetarian-type meals. But I know how vitally important protein is for me right now! I think I drink a gallon and a half of milk each day all by myself. I crave it! I don't know if you know this, but bean/grain combinations are a good source of complete protein for your meatless days, and of course, all dairy products and eggs. You have to eat beans and grains together, though. They both have protein, but are incomplete without the other. :-)

  5. Hmm, I was just talking to a friend this weekend. She had somewhat of a similar situation as yours. No one could figure out, not even the doctors then a nurse friend of hers who knew she had been sick asked her to look into potassium deficiency. Might be something worth investigating? Anyhow, praying for you, as always.

  6. So sorry you did not find out anything. How frustrating. So glad it is nothing bad at least..right?

So funny about Faith not thinking that school one was a "good" one!!

Love the new baby name, how sweet. And what a blessing she will be to so many.

  7. Ditto what Ana Maria said. Potassium, electrolyte imbalance. If you're not using a lot of salt....try sea salt as it has lots of minerals that are good for you. Too little salt is bad for you; it's the sodium in processed foods that raise the bp.

  8. Christine,
I'm glad you found that quote helpful. It would be a nice one to frame and hang someplace I walk by frequently!

  9. Jennie,
I'll keep that in mind. So veggie chili would not have much protein? Well, we usually eat our beans with rice, so I guess that counts. I crave milk products too, but my cholesterol is so high I usually feel guilty. I refuse to buy low-fat milk, however, and I eat whole fat yogurt. Guilt, guilt, guilt. I wish I knew for sure it is not the dairy fat raising my cholesterol. It's hereditary for sure, at least in my family.

  10. Ana Maria,
I wish the answer was that easy but my doctor did check my potassium when I first went in. That and my thyroid levels are normal. I am going to start investigating hormones.

  11. Jamie,
Yeah, it's a good/bad thing. I AM glad it's not my heart, just wish there was some answer.

Margot will be a blessing to many. She already is!

  12. Sara,
I usually eat kosher salt, but I can certainly switch to sea salt. That's an easy fix. I also want to take magnesium, but the variety I have (Magnesium Serene, or something like that -- a powder) makes me, um, go too much, if you know what I mean. Can you recommend a brand?

  13. We use Natural Calm magnesium. You make a "tea" with it. It has 325 mg. per 2 tsp. You obviously don't need as much as your brand provides! You could just cut the dosage in half and see what happens.

  14. Praying you'll get it figured out soon! Magnesium does have a laxative effect. You could always counterbalance it with an iron supplement ;)

  15. Barb, I'm surprised they didn't put a holter monitor on you. My husband had similar symptoms and was diagnosed with an arrythmia, a benign one, thankfully, fixed nicely with medication.

  16. Mel, My heart has calmed down somewhat, but the episodes were going on for hours. Could that be arrhythmia?
