Have no anxiety at all, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God. Then the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

Needle and thREAD

needle and thREAD

Though I am extraordinarily distracted this morning, I decided to try and get a post up on my sewing. I realized how extraordinarily distracted I really was when it took two entire minutes to find Elizabeth's blog on my sidebar. Apparently I can't even read. I think I'll be sure to ask the doctor today if thin blood makes one stupid. (Just kidding -- sort of).

ready to pin the flannel "batting"

I am working on a baby quilt. It's darling, but in an effort to not give the surprise away to the mama who is a reader, I shall not show, too much anyway. I have three baby quilts to make, fabric ready to go and all, and I am excited at how quickly this one has gone. I've been waking extra early to work on it before the sun comes up and it's a nice way to start the day, rosary on my iphone, stitching at the machine. I normally make baby quilts just random squares. In fact, I can only think of maybe three baby quilts I have not made that way. I decided to make this one from pinwheel squares and it has been fun. The fabric is darling...super darling, and it looks mighty cute made into pinwheels.

I managed to get some of the quilting finished this morning, until I realized I had pricked myself with a straight pin and was bleeding all over the quilt. My doctor is having a difficult time getting my INR (essentially clotting time) just right and now I am way too "juicy" as she put it. Normally a prick with a straight pin would result in a dot of blood, but with extra thin blood I unknowingly bled for a while. I promise the mama whose baby this quilt is for, to get the blood out before I gift it. I didn't intend to give quite so much of myself. {wink}

I put the quilt away for the time being. I have to see my doctor this afternoon. Hopefully I thickened up a little. She had me off the coumadin for two days and eating spinach (vitamin K works against the coumadin so normally I would have to stay away from leafy vegetables).

I don't have any good books in the works, though I am listening to Convenant Child on my phone when I can. Doug and I are enjoying John Adams on DVD in the evenings when I can sit by the fire and sew by hand.

Join Elizabeth and her sewing circle for more needle and thREAD posts.

And I'll see you tomorrow with the Downton Abbey basket -- it's almost finished, just have to add Lord Grantham's cigar this afternoon.

    Remember I have that really good spinach salad on my cooking blog! (if you need to do that again)
