Have no anxiety at all, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God. Then the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.
Phil 4:6-7

(1/17)...streaming

I meant to get back to you much earlier in the week, but we all know how that goes. And since today is busy dance day, here are just a couple quickies just to catch us up.

For those of you who were holding your breath to hear what I did for dinner when my son's girlfriend's parents came...it was an antipasto platter, ordered-in pizza, a big salad, and tiramisu. I was only disappointed in my choice of entree while I watched my guests eat pizza that was not lovingly created by me. (Frankly, I love Jets pizza, but I felt guilty for taking the easy route.) I know...ridiculous. Fellowship without a homemade entree was still fellowship. They are sweet people, and hopefully will not hold it against me forever.

I had an appointment with another orthopedist earlier this week. I thought he would tell me there is just not much he can do, limited treatments available for meralgia paresthetica and all that...and he didn't. He actually didn't suggest treatment (so that conversation could come later), instead he told me he is concerned about the cysts in my pelvis. Remember the one large ovarian cyst on the left side that is supposedly not there anymore (magically disappeared between ultrasound and radiologist's report), well, turns out no one (not the radiologist, the previously-visited orthopedist, nor uro/gyn) mentioned that there were/are multiple cysts on the right side of my pelvis which may, or may not, be affecting that nerve. So...drum roll...another MRI. Yeah, I'm not talking about it. It's scheduled for Monday morning. And then I see the doctor back on Tuesday. And in the meantime, for extra fun, I see the uro/gyn tomorrow so I can pin her down about the missing cyst.

Also in medical news, Noah is no longer allergic to almonds. All the other tree nuts and peanuts are still major allergies, but almonds are no longer a worry. I don't think he'll ever eat them voluntarily, but at least he won't have a medical emergency if he does! (Also in Noah news -- he passed his temps test this week. Oy vey!)

Cooking for the freezer has ensued. This week, three dinners of shredded beef, and four dinners of shredded chicken, plus two pots of homemade broth were frozen. Today I will make a huge crock pot of sauce and sausages to freeze. All that cooking is not good for my leg but I am going to love the freezer meals I have in the weeks to come (and saving money on groceries).

I have a post in my head about changes we are making to help keep costs low, what with paychecks shrinking these days (somebody has to pay for all those government hand-outs, ya know -- we are calling it the Obama Budget in my house, we have to scrimp so someone else can spend!). There are quite a few changes going on here, maybe a few can help you, too. I am working on it...hopefully by the weekend I'll have it finished.

I am listening to Proof of Heaven on cd in the car. It's a remarkable story, and I am looking forward to Faith's dance classes today just so I can sit in the car and knit and listen. Ok, I'm off to make lunch for the dance director and her family -- feeding the hungry is a corporal work of mercy!

Happy Thursday. Happy Feast of St. Anthony the Abbott. Who knew he was the patron saint of eczema?

  1. The one thing I learned from all of Ben's doctors was that we had to be outspoken, which is very hard for me. But you need to make sure that everyone is on the same page. Hang in there, I am praying for healing for you Barbara!

  2. Ok, I can breathe now. I'm sure your guests didn't give your dinner a second thought, other than it was wonderful!

You continue to be in my prayers too.

How did Noah figure out the almond thing?

  3. Oh boy, more fun with ovarian cysts. Welcome to what was my world...I hope this doesn't mean more surgery for you! You have my prayers that this will all be figured out soon.

I'm anxious to read your Obama Budget post. We'll have to start doing the same thing here, and I have the same freezer cookbook you're using, so it will be interesting to compare notes.

I appreciate your comments -- sometimes I feel like I'm talking to myself!
