Have no anxiety at all, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God. Then the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

Jack-Frost-nipping-at-your-nose Daybook

Outside my window...

...a wintery day-late white Christmas. More snow is expected. I think we've only had about four or five out of the nine to 12 inches predicted.

 I am thinking...

...about peace and how precious it is in medium to large families (ours is not large by my standards, but by some). The morning was very peaceful before the big kids awoke. Then there was a girlfriend over, then some of the kids played in the snow, and then there were some not-so-peaceful moments. I have to take the peace when it is present. Sitting here typing, the fire crackling next to me, a hushed snow outdoors, it is peaceful. And then a child comes into the room and it's broken. It seems on these holiday days the normal activities which bring peace are forgotten. I need to make it a priority to get away for some quiet time and prayer every day. I think my bedroom is the last place in the house in which to escape!

 From the lesson plans...

...no school for another two weeks. This is a long break.

 From the kitchen..

...chicken parmesan for dinner, with some yummy homemade rolls.

 I am wearing...

...a brown skirt and turtleneck and a sweater I had to take off to sit next to the fire.

I am creating...

...now that almost all of the Christmas gifts are made I am back to working on my Jesse Tree ornaments. I know I am running waaay behind, but I am hopeful I can get them finished before I have to pack the tree away. I have a pair of pajamas to make for Doug's Goddaughter, but we are not seeing her for two weeks.

I am planning...

...to watch The Homecoming tonight, and that's as far as I am planning.

I am hoping...

...to enjoy a wee glass of Bénédictine while I enjoy the movie. My brother bought me a bottle for Christmas. I had never tasted it before, but it's a flavor I immediately loved, though I don't normal drink liqueur. It's incredibly yummy.

I am going...

...have an ultrasound tomorrow to check on an ovarian cyst and I am praying nothing scary is revealed.

I am praying for...

...my children, and my husband
...my dear friend Gina. She has her last treatment this week.
...our priests and all religious
...all of the babies whose mothers are contemplating abortion this week, and for a change of heart for their mothers.
...baby Simeon.
...for baby Dominic Pio.
...for the two new babies of sweet friends and, of course, the sweet friends, Margaret and Aimee.

Pictures for the day...

  1. Pretty pictures--Mary would make a great winter header picture! Please let us know how things go tomorrow.

    I'll be praying for you.

Thank you so much for prayers for Simeon...he cries when he pees, and when I change him...otherwise, he's doing so much better today!! We got lots of smiles today!

  4. That snowy Our Lady is so beautiful. It's raining here today, a rare occasion. When it snows in other parts of the country, it rains here. I'll take what I can get. =)
