Rainy Daybook

Outside my window... 

...it's a grey, rainy day. Throw in some wind, and some cold. The thermometer says 39 degrees F.

 I am thinking... 

...mostly about the election right now. You could say I am rather (or extremely) myopic, but the weather is somewhat of a distraction. I have the weather channel on today which is a distraction without the political influence. I apologize to those for which the weather is much more than a distraction.

From the lesson plans...  

...the regular stuff. Faith is doing well and is only a little bit reluctant each day. Once I get her going she's good. She is particularly enjoying English (love!) and history -- Revolutionary War. She's getting a good dose of Liberty's Kids which the boys disliked and she loves. I just looked up the cast though, and I am wondering if Liberty's Kids isn't revisionist history. I don't usually watch. We're using one of the Fr. Furlong history texts though, so hopefully she'll get most of it straight.

From the kitchen...

...Barbecued Beef Brisket, mashed potatoes, and buttered corn -- a good cold weather supper.

 I am wearing...

 ...a khaki knit skirt, my favorite brown, cotton, Lands End sweater, with a long-sleeved aqua tee underneath, brown socks and brown Haflinger clogs. And my chains.

I am creating...

 ...a hat for my friend Gina (I had it almost finished when I finally admitted it was going to be too small, pulled the whole thing out and started over, adding eight stitches.), some St. Michael chaplets -- a little at a time to save my arm, and I have a long list of other rosaries and scapulars to work on. I need to go away for a month so I can get it all done. Ha!

 I am planning...

...to get a lot of rosaries made this month. Yeah, I said that last month before I developed tendinitis in my dominant arm. Pft. Still planning...

I am hoping... 

...really hoping, really, really hoping for a win for the Life ticket next week. Please, oh please...

 Around the house...

 ...I got a lot of laundry done today. It was a good day. There are a lot of leaves on the floor, but that happens ten minutes after I sweep. 

I am going...

...to the doctor tomorrow morning to talk more about the medication that is not really working for my leg, and to physical therapy tomorrow evening. Oh, such a fun day. I will go with Joshua on Wednesday afternoon because he claims he has a mole on his back that needs checked. I gave him the phone number of the doctor because I figured it would become less "vital" if he had to call and schedule himself. But he did. On Wednesday afternoon, an hour and thirty minutes before Trick-or-Treat starts. Sigh.

Thank you to all of you who are praying for him. He has his sleep study scheduled on the Sunday night before Veteran's Day, and we see the neurologist again at the end of November. I am assuming that the doctor would call if there was anything remarkable on the MRI or EEG, though I know it's not safe to assume.

...my dear friend Gina. Thank you to all who are praying for her. She started her chemo treatments last week and is feeling pretty crappy. I know she appreciates the prayers.

...our priests and all religious, especially the young priests who sometimes have such an uphill battle to fight

 ...all of the babies whose mothers are contemplating abortion this week

...all of those who are affected by the hurricane, including my brother (with leaky windows) in Maryland.

 For the rest of the week...

...I guess I already went through the week, sort of, at least the yucky parts. The good parts: I am looking forward to All Saints Day -- I love that feast day, as well as All Soul's Day (and Soulcakes!). If you have never created an All Saints and All Souls candle vigil, now's the time.

Picture thought...

...beautiful central Ohio last week, before it started raining and blowing endlessly. My mom, Faith and I  took a day trip to Utica, Ohio, to eat ice cream. Yes, we drove for 40 minutes to eat ice cream, and have a diversion, and breathe fresh, clean country air.
