I've been quiet here, busy knitting and beading (and ordering online), and praying (Hail and blessed be the hour...). We are observing Advent (torturing my children by not allowing Christmas decorations, movies, songs yet) and today I am sharing our Advent table blessing, which replaces our standard "Bless us O Lord."
Leader (dad):
Blessed are You, Lord, God of all creation;
in the darkness and in the light.
Blessed are You
in this food and in this sharing.
Blessed are You as we wait in joyful hope
for the coming of Our Savior, Jesus Christ.
All respond:
For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are Yours, now and forever.
Leader:
Come, Lord Jesus!
All:
Come, quickly!
Hi Barbara,
ReplyDeleteIs that your advent wreath? I really like those candles - where did you get them??
The prayer is nice - we might give it a try.
~Angela
Beautiful.
ReplyDeletePS. It is hard to be quiet, isn't it? I feel like Samuel.
ReplyDeleteYour wreath is beautiful! My isn't evergreen, but I think I need to add some ... We haven't decorated, either, and it feels bare ... Maybe that's how it's supposed to feel, though? It increases my longing for Jesus on Christmas ...
ReplyDeleteI got my chaplet yesterday! It is beautiful! I prayed the whole novena yesterday and am 1/2 way through today. It helps to have those lovely purplish beads in my pocket. It's amazing what hope that prayer gives. Thank you!
Beautiful Advent Wreath and beautiful table blessing.
ReplyDeleteWishing you a blessed Advent, Barbara.
We clean and we decorate as we go along through Advent. There's no way it would get done on Christmas Eve. :-)
ReplyDeleteAngela,
ReplyDeleteIt is my wreath -- I bought these candles for the second year:

Margaret,
ReplyDeleteYes ma'am. Or Job: "Teach me, and I will be silent;make me understand how I have erred." Job 6:24
Sarah,
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you are enjoying your little chaplet. :-)
Thank you, Kelly.
ReplyDeleteJennie,
ReplyDeleteIt couldn't happen on Christmas Eve here either. But not yet!
Happy Patron's Feast Day!

The wreath and the prayer are both very beautiful. I wish we had been Catholic when our boys were growing up. I wish they were Catholic now, so their children could experience Advent. I pray that they all WILL be Catholic one day. "Joyful hope" for that too! Thank you. --- Rosemary
