Have no anxiety at all, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God. Then the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

Late Yarn Along

Yarning Along with Ginny...a day late.

I am still making progress on the sweater I'm knitting for Doug's nephew. I am knitting the hood now. The pattern can be found here -- it's a very simple knit, and I like the sweater, though I do lose momentum on the long knitting parts. That's kind of where I am now on the hood. I have to make myself pick it up. The yarn is Knit Picks Comfy Worsted in Jalapeno with the stripe in Silver Sage (the stripe is not in the pattern). I mentioned before that I am disappointed in the yarn -- it's so lightweight, but I have confidence in Knit Picks so I am hoping (beyond hope) that when I wash and block it, it will fluff up a little. If not, my aunt reminded me that little boys have their own built-in furnaces and probably don't need such big heavy sweaters anyway.

My book I am not disappointed in one bit and is really the reason I decided to go ahead and post this Yarn Along even though I am late. It will be due back at the library next week, so I won't have it in my post. I am fortunate that our library has a link to dozens of libraries in Ohio and I got this book from the Franciscan University in Steubenville. The title is Why Catholics are Right, by Michael Coren. I'm not big on the title -- I think it sounds pompous, and should say Why the Catholic Church is the Truth. But it is a very good book and I think Coren is spot-on (to steal one of his native British terms) in most of his points. I would not exactly call it an apologetics book, because it doesn't necessarily defend doctrine (although I shouldn't say it absolutely doesn't) as much as the Church in today's culture and in history. I have skipped over parts (frankly I don't ever plan to defend the Crusades or the Inquisition because I'm not a history buff nor could I ever hold my own in an argument over such topics) but all in all it's an excellent read and I think all Catholics should read it.
