Have no anxiety at all, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God. Then the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

Daybook

.
Outside my window...
...hot and dry and very sunny. Wow, nothing new there. Praying for rain.

I am thinking...
...about my daughter having surgery tomorrow. She's been a healthy girl, and for that we are fortunate, except for sore throats, which is not much in the realm of sickness. I don't want her to have to continue having them, however, and I don't want her to have yucky enlarged tonsils like her oldest brother. They will never get smaller, so now is as good a time as any.

I am thankful for....

...air conditioning

...good doctors, good medical facilities, mediocre insurance (because mediocre is better than none)

...prayers

...hot, (strong) black coffee, always

From the lesson plans...
...my letter to the school district is on the front hall table waiting to be mailed tomorrow. Teaching Textbooks is waiting until after Faith's surgery and nothing else has been ordered. Fortunately, I know what I want and need and nothing is farther away than the internet.

From the kitchen...
...Best Backyard Pork Tenderloins and Bulgar Salad for dinner. Rustic peach pie for dessert -- I smell it baking, yum.

I am wearing...
...brown crops, light blue top and Birkies.

I am creating...
...a market bag and a wire-wrapped rosary.

I am reading...
... My Antonia by Willa Catha and Dr. Ray's book on parenting teens.

I am hoping...
...for no complications tomorrow in surgery.

I am hearing...
...Faith fixing herself a lettuce, tomato and mayonnaise sandwich. The ENT said she might be a better eater after the surgery (he assumed she is not a good eater because of her weight) but, I can't imagine her eating more than she does. She's a healthy eater, however, which is why she is so thin, I guess.

Around the house...
...the basement carpet tiles arrived today -- a project for my honey for the weekend.

I am going...
...nowhere until the morning and we leave mid-morning for a late morning surgery time.

One of my favorite things...
...new school books for Noah, picked up today.

I am praying for...

...my children, especially Faith for healing, and for my husband

...our next door neighbors' new twin girls. One of the girls has VSD and has not come home yet. she is supposed to come home next week, but with a feeding tube and a surgery date. :-(

...our priests and all religious

...several soldiers

...all of the babies whose mothers are contemplating abortion this week

Plans for the rest of the week...
...what rest of the week? It's Friday tomorrow and with surgery, I have no plans. Next week, however, is the start of school for Noah. Six more days...

Quote of the day...
"I do not feel obliged to believe that the same God who has endowed us with sense, reason, and intellect has intended us to forgo their use."

  4. I'll be praying for Faith - and you - tomorrow. I think sometimes it hurts us more than it hurts them. :-(

  5. I too, will be lighting my candle for Faith in the morning and saying a rosary for her surgery and quick healing. Give her the pain meds around the clock and less pain will allow her to drink more easily. Seems I also remember days 5 and 10 post-op were both hard days for some reason. Many prayers. :)

  6. Faith is in my prayers today.
Cheryl is right - give the pain meds regularly at first, instead of waiting to see when they are needed - it's harder to "catch up" on the pain if you wait.
