Have no anxiety at all, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God. Then the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.
Phil 4:6-7

Daybook...the morning after

.

Outside my window...

...blue skies and warm. Dare I say we are praying for rain? We humans are just never happy, are we?

I am thinking...

...about my son's grad party last night. We had very special friends, lots of family, teenage boys and girls, all celebrate a very special time with us.

...that my head just doesn't feel right today. Can cooking and cleaning for days on end leave one slightly hungover? I don't think I finished even one glass of sangria last night.

...about young people (who think they are so grown up) stuffing their pockets with bubble gum. On the dessert table at the party I set up a sort of candy bar with bowls and jars of my Joshua's favorite candy. I told all the big kids to fill their pockets before they left and the bubble gum jar was empty at the end of the night. That is just too funny. I highly recommend a big bubble gum jar for your next teenage party.

...about a long summer ahead. With a particular young teenage boy who has some, um, attitude these days. Grrr.

I am thankful for...

...really good friends who we love like family, family who we enjoy like friends.

...more food than we needed at our party (I have a fear of running out of food at my parties)

...a Monday to catch up from a busy weekend

...sun (yes, it's hot, but without it we are sunk)

...hot, (strong) black coffee, always

...a day with no cooking

From the lesson plans...

...just a few more math lessons, which takes us almost to the beginning of summer school! My young teen is taking summer prep classes in algebra and Latin at our all-boys high schhol, where he will start in the fall. So next week, though it will involves lots of driving, will begin, for me, an era with one little homeschooler. (Yippee!)

From the kitchen...

... whatever is left from the party -- pulled pork, baked beans, loads and loads of pasta salad and slaw, cupcakes, cookies, candy, candy, candy. (Sounds uber healthy, eh?)

I am wearing...

...a summer nightgown and birkies. Very glam. Hey, it's the day after a big, big party.

I am creating...

...some rosaries this week, just for fun, because I can.

...a baby quilt

I am reading...

... The Forgotten Garden as seen on Ginny's Yarn Along post a few weeks ago. It's very good. I could really just do nothing but read today, but I won't.

I am hoping...

...for a lazy, happy, mellow, coolish, peaceful, pleasant, convivial, bookish, productive summer. Not too hopeful, am I?

I am hearing...

...Maggie the dog snorting as she settles down for a nap, and the air conditioner blowing. Not another thing.

Around the house...

...laundry to catch up on. Everything else is pretty clean from the party. After our guests left, I did all the dishes, and swept and steamed the floor because I hate waking up to a messy house. There are some serving platters and bowls to put away and linens to wash but other than that the party is put away. Four more years until the next grad party and I'm saving my pennies now to hire a caterer. Yeah. Right.

I am going...

...to the Post Office and the laundry room. No where else.

One of my favorite things...

...hugs and kisses from friends and family.

...lots of loud happy talk.

...laughing, sweaty teenagers gulping down cold sodas.

...new beginnings, fresh starts.

...a wide open horizon.

...Our Blessed Mother. Always.

I am praying for...

...my children and my husband

...my niece Rachel. She looked perfectly beautiful when I saw her last week and I think she feels this disease is behind her. yeah!

...Doug's Uncle Walt who is undergoing chemo for bladder and kidney cancer.

...my priests, one who is leaving our parish to become a pastor, and a new, baby priest who is coming. I am so excited.

...several soldiers

...all of the babies whose mothers are contemplating abortion this week.

A few plans for the rest of the week...

...some sewing, some reading, some relaxing. Yeah for me.

A thought for the day...
“What we call the beginning is often the end. And to make an
end is to make a beginning. The end is where we start from.”
~T.S. Eliot
