Have no anxiety at all, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God. Then the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.
Phil 4:6-7

Yarning Along...

.

...with Ginny at Small Things.

Pardon the photo. We have had dark, cloudy skies for so many days, there was no hope for a good picture. My little Bernard (bunny) came to read his book on the window seat, too.

I am still working on this cardigan by Knitting Pure and Simple in a size four for Doug's little niece. It's a great pattern, like the one I used to make Faith's hoodie. Cute and simple. I finished the body and I am working on sleeve #1 now. The yarn is Peaches and Cream in "Gumdrop." It's very springy. And girlie.

My "Yarn" is One Thousand Gifts by Ann Voskamp. I admit that I was a holdout on this book. I love Ann's writing, but I confess that her blog often leaves me feeling melancholy. And defeated. Do you know what I mean? Maybe it's just me. A dear online friend sent me a copy of One Thousand Gifts with the assurance that I would enjoy it, and I trust her. I think it's fitting Holy Week reading.

Hop over to Ginny's for some more knits and yarns.

  1. I do so wish we were neighbors, I'd be over all the time wanting to learn how to knit!! (you can be thankful we are not neighbors I guess)

    Gosh, that's a beautiful sweater.

I started that book, then got so into packing for our trip that I just put it down and never picked it up again. I'll have to.

I tend to read different stations of the cross this week and St Faustina's Diary. The being grateful thing would be a good thing to do also, I'll try to pick it up again. (and think of you!)

  2. I like her writing, too, but I don't read her blog every day. I told somebody else once that while her theology is pretty Catholic, the way she expresses her faith is so raw, more like an open wound than a healing balm.

I really enjoyed her book, though. It's more... hopeful. :-)

  3. I feel the same way about Ann's blog and writing. She has an intensity that doesn't seem joyful- though I'm certain she is. I feel like debbie downer but I just didn't love it. I'm anxious to hear what you think.

  4. Wish I could knit! Love that sweater.
And I guess I need to hop about the 1,000 Gifts wagon...it seems like everyone is reading this!

  5. Let me know what you think of the book, Jamie.

Jennie, That's exactly what I mean about her writing. I'm glad to hear the book is more hopeful.

Sarah Jane, I'll be sure to write my thoughts.

    Emily,
Jump on both wagons -- knitting is easy!

  6. Ann's blog is a little overwhelming for me at times, especially when I'm just trying to escape into the blogosphere for a quick break. But I have heard such great things about her book that I have been giving it to my girlfriends/godmothers as birthday gifts for the last couple of months. I haven't read it yet, but I am thinking about hinting at it for Mother's Day ;).

  7. Such a cute, happy sweater!

I'm still not finished with the book, but I like it better than I thought. I still stink at being grateful, though!

  8. I'll let you know what I think, Stina, but I have heard great things, even from folks like us who just can't read the blog every day.

    Sara,
It IS happy, Sara. And I bet you don't stink at being grateful, just at putting it into words. Maybe practice makes perfect and by 1000 you will be perfect!
