Have no anxiety at all, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God. Then the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

Rainy Daybook

.

Outside my window...

...cool, slow rain. It rained most of the night, I think. It's predicted to rain most of the day and some of tomorrow, too. That's alright. I think it would take weeks of rain to make up for the drought we've had. I suspect we will not have much color this fall at all, sadly.

I am thinking...
...about high school love. It's so different being on the parent side.

I am thankful for...
...a day off school. Joshua is off for a diocesan in-service day, so I get a day to plan lessons and he gets to do his homework. I suppose the other two get a true break.

From the learning rooms...
...week five. I still have not caught up in Faith's science labs, so we'll do that today -- now we have two weeks to catch up on instead of one. I haven't been as good about planning her Wednesday work, but we've had such busy weeks between Labor Day and her being sick (and now in-service days) that our Wednesdays have been catch-ups instead of enrichment. She keeps asking when I'm going to teach her a running stitch (Sewing with St. Anne). Mommy guilt. We haven't been doing Latin regularly either -- gotta step that up (do you see how I focus on what I'm not doing?).

From the kitchen...
... I planned for Blackened Chicken and Pepper Corn, but if it's raining later I might have to rethink that.

I am wearing...
...khaki pants, a blue knit v-neck shirt, Birkies.

I am creating...
...I'm on the second half of Rachel's scarf. I haven't had much knitting time lately. I actually haven't had much sitting time at all (let's have a pity party!).

I am reading...
...E.B. White's Second Tree from the Corner, a collection of short stories. Short stories are about all I have time for these days, and I like that I can read one in the time it takes to dry my hair. ;-)
Actually I truly didn't know that E.B. White was such a prolific writer of "grown-up" material. I enjoy his tone, and rather frank attitude.

I am hoping...
...for a nice quiet week. Last week was crazy and I cannot maintain that level of activity for long.

I am hearing...
...the fish tank bubbling. Everyone else is still sleeping.

Around the house...
...laundry and tidying up after the weekend. Normally I come out of the weekend with a pretty clean house, but this weekend was not normal. Josh had a friend sleep over last night and when he's gone we'll do a whole-house sweep.

One of my favorite things...
...something baking in the oven. There are cinnamon rolls rising in the kitchen. I can't wait until they are baking and we can smell their buttery cinnamoniness.

A few plans for the rest of the week...
...life, the best kind -- no official plans, nothing on my calendar. We'll go to Mass on Wednesday, the Feast of the Archangels, and celebrate St. Therese's feast day on Friday. I love the first week in October -- great feast days! The novena to Our Lady of the Rosary begins on Wednesday. I think it might be time for another rosary giveaway. Stay tuned...

  2. Mmmm cinnamon rolls...
I just love this sort of weather. It's good light a candle, bake something, and read on the couch weather.

The kids loved them. I avoided. ;-)

    Em,
You are so right. I lit a candle tonight just because you suggested it!
