Have no anxiety at all, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God. Then the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

Happy, Happy...Worried, Worried

My happy son and his happy girl, dressed and ready to go to the Homecoming dance.

Can I just say that the mama will be so happy when this date is over? Sigh.

I really wish I had signed up to be a chaperone. At least then I could spy on them from behind the coat racks.

Just thinking about the new driver with the pretty girl in the passenger seat is giving me heart palpitations.

Cast all your worries upon him because he cares for you.
1 Peter 5:7

  1. I am offering up my Sunday Mass for you, Barbara--retroactive prayers, but God's outside of time--because even though my oldest is only 13, I fully get what you are going through.

Okay, so maybe not fully, which is why you can return the favor--i.e. the prayers--when my oldest son turns 18.

Trust 'til you bust, my friend!

  2. Thanks, dear friend. He made it home safely and happily. And your forward-paid-favor is duly paid. I owe you!

I am just very grateful, on mornings like this, for all-boys schools. I can't imagine if he had to deal with the distraction of girls every day. I guess maybe he would be better at it, but I'd rather he not be. ;-)

  3. Ah, Barb...what lovely, trying, growing time! Teenagers and adult children tug and pull in ways that stretch us to the limits of trust. Is there really such thing as a mother who doesn't pray? I'd like to meet her...I don't know how any of us could make it through without our good God's mercy and grace. Praying your boy had a delightful time and that his mother has recovered!

BTW: I took my very first drive, with my very first teenage boy driver just last week. It's a completely different world! His confidence is frightening! I think I preferred those nervous girls of mine that clung to every word and every bit of instruction...this young man is just like his dad. He'll be a wonderful driver, but I'll be holding on for dear life in the meantime. And will be wearing out the ear of our Lord ;-D

  4. Blogger was being stubborn the other day and would not let me comment. Hope all went well!

  5. My friend has a sticker on her car, "Never Drive Any Faster than Your Guardian Angel Can Fly". Might be a good one to place on all cars with new drivers!!!

  6. ah, those pretty girls!
the boys love 'em, but for us mothers....ugh! i don't even have words for the butterflies i get in MY stomach just thinking about them!
so glad all went well. will be praying that it continues to...i am contemplating some quick cinnamon rolls this morning. i don't need the carbs. but they'd taste so good and we are having guests...so we'll see what this cool morning brings...perhaps even some rain. please send some of that cool ohio weather this way, barb. it has been hellishly hot here for too long!

    blessings, dear one!

I appreciate your comments -- sometimes I feel like I'm talking to myself!
