Have no anxiety at all, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God. Then the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

To-Do Tidbits

.
Several children ago, I read Martha Stewart Living magazine once in a while. Do you know what my favorite part of the magazine was? That calendar at the front of the magazine that gave you something to do every day. Yes, sometimes I laughed out loud at the hilarity of imagining myself "oiling the gardening tools and putting them away for the winter" or "changing the sheets on all the beds and tucking dried lavender under the pillows." Ha!

But, really, some of the suggestions were doable, and things I had not previously thought of. It was nice to have someone else throw it out there -- and I could pick it up and make it my own. No one needed to know it was originally Martha's idea.

Occasionally I get ideas that I think are helpful, but other than sometimes sharing them with my husband (who usually looks at me like I'm off my nut), I don't share them with anyone. But since this is my very own place to say what I want, I've decided to make To-Do Tidbits a regular little spot here on my blog. You might think I'm off my nut too, but I know you're too nice to say so.

~~~~~~
My first To-Do Tidbit is for my Catholic girlfriends (so boys, you can stop here, at the imaginary bathroom door).
Keep a small bottle of liquid laundry soap in the shower (or if you're tight on space, a travel-size bottle) and when you've had a hot, sweaty day in the garden or at the park, get in the shower with your bra on, and your cloth scapular if you wear one, and wash them while you're in the shower. Hang them on the shower head or the on/off handle until you're finished and then take them out and hang them up to dry completely (squeeze the ends of the scapular between a absorbent towel first) -- I have a wooden shelf with hooks elsewhere in the bathroom.
Also, now is the time of year to put a nail brush in the shower, in case you don't keep one in there all year. And for my friend Sara -- keep a bar of Fels Naptha in a soap case in a bathroom drawer or cabinet in case you have contact with poison ivy out in the yard.
    PS. I really like your music playing too.
  2. I occasionally use Fels Naptha for laundry, but I didn't know about it's usefulness for poison ivy. OTOH, I didn't know I had been in contact with the stuff, either! I'll make sure to keep it on hand, now.
  3. I officially love this new feature - you will be my own personal Martha Stewart, except better because I might actually do the things you mention! :)
  4. Thanks, Martha. You are so nice.
    Sara, I guess if you don't know you've touched it, there's not much you can do. But I have read that if you repeatedly wash with Fels Naptha, even after the rash comes out, that it dries up quicker.
    Aimee, I promise to keep it real! ;-)
