The Sweetest Rose...
.
...is that which comes to a mother from her son.
I've never been "big" on flowers. They are nice, yes, but I usually view the cost of cut flowers "a waste," especially roses. I always tell my husband, "don't buy me flowers, they just die." And after almost 25 years, he rarely does.
Yesterday, however, a bouquet of roses arrived, and my husband says, "I swooned."
"But, they are from my son," I said. "Oh, they smell so sweet."
It truly is the thought that counts, because they could be daisies from the field and I would swoon. Truly. But they are roses. From my son. 24 of them. Aren't they gorgeous?

Funny, I told my husband the same thing, years ago, having the same feelings about wasting money and the flowers dying... and he hasn't given me flowers in years, either! I have at times regretted this!
ReplyDeleteThis year, I too received 2 doz. roses, but they were from my parents. How wonderful it was!
