Have no anxiety at all, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God. Then the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

Quite the little sinner

.

Today, Peach and I started a First Confession lap book to help her prepare for the Sacrament, which she will receive sometime between now and her First Holy Communion in May. She's a little sketchy on her Ten Commandments, so we reviewed them and the sins that "go with" each. As I asked her the many questions she would use for an examination of conscience, the light bulb went on in her head and she said, "Do you mean I have to tell Father everything I did?" (She's seven, I can't imagine how much she thinks there is.)

"Yes," I said.

"Oh no, I'm going to be in there for like a million years."

Shall I warn the dear Father?

  2. Very cute story. One to record (which you've done here =) to remember what she was like at this age. Too precious!

  3. She's a laugh a minute, Annie (except when she makes me crazy!) ;-)

Yes, it's a good thing I'm recording her moments here, Sarah, because at my age my memory is shot! :-)

  5. Regan,
The funny thing is, the light bulb moment occurred after I asked, in regard to the Fifth Commandment, "Have you had a fight or a quarrel? How many times?" Ha!ha! I could just see that she was thinking, "Oh my goodness, I can't even count how many times I've quarreled today!"

  6. snicker, snicker. This is so precious, so sweet and shows the wholesome nature of our little ones in action. I read this to my youngest and she said your Peach is so cute.

  7. ROFL!
Little Brother's class was told by the CCD director that they may only confess 2 sins each (I guess to keep things moving along.) What's up with THAT? That really gives the kids the wrong idea!

  8. Thank you, Renee. Young children do have a purity of desire for God's love that we should all strive for. ;-)

    Barb,
I don't get that at all. They are teaching that efficiency is more important than thoroughness -- and Sacraments are not the place to cut corners!
