Have no anxiety at all, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God. Then the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

A Simple Woman's Daybook

Outside my window...
still dark -- just a bluish hint of morning. Cold. It rained all day yesterday, but today it's supposed to be dry and in the 40s. We've had no snow to speak of and it doesn't look like it will snow at all this week. Doug put up fencing in the back yard yesterday -- as soon as it dries out we can see if it holds Maggie. The only way she can escape is through the creek -- will she?

I am thinking...about Joshua's Christmas concert tonight. We haven't had a concert since college boy quit taking piano lessons and none of the boys have been in chorus before -- this is exciting. I don't think there is any lovelier sound than the voices of young men singing.

I am thankful for...Monday. It was a busy weekend.

From the learning rooms...homeschool lite this week. Reading Christmas stories, math, spelling, English and religion.

From the kitchen...dinner out tonight before the concert -- more fun.

I am wearing...pink flannel nightgown -- it's cold and early.

I am creating...finishing a Thorpe for my nephew and I'm waiting on beads to make some St. Andrew's chaplets.

I am going...to the Post Office.

I am reading...I'm on the second Betsy-Tacy and I am really enjoying it. Sara probably thinks I read at a second grade level, but I can only manage to read as many pages as my eyes will stay open for at bedtime -- sometimes that's not even one!

I am hoping... to get lights on the tree today. I'm either maturing or getting lazy -- yesterday Doug put the tree up and I never got the lights up -- that's a first in my life. I normally would have made it happen, come hell or high water. But, I'm just not feeling the fire these days.

I am hearing...the furnace, finally. It was really cold when we woke up this morning. I think it's set on 63 degrees. Brrr.

Around the house...laundry, sweeping, picking up.

One of my favorite things...my Magnificat and it's missing. I think Doug did something with it when he cleaned out the Pilot, but he doesn't remember. Ugh. Tony, Tony, come around, something's lost and must be found.

A few plans for the rest of the week: a new van -- Doug's arranging a pick-up this week.

A picture thought...silly dog, in one of Cheryl's Christmas bandannas. Peach loves dressing her up.

  1. I know your angst over the Magnificat. I could not find mine for December and ended up finding another copy in a town an hour away! I feel so lost without my little book.

Enjoy the concert and the dinner out!

  2. I'm glad you made it to Betsy in Spite of Herself! I understand how hard it is to finish a book when you only read those few minutes at night, especially this time of year when knitting is much more urgent!

I appreciate your comments -- sometimes I feel like I'm talking to myself!
