Have no anxiety at all, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God. Then the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

Tuesday Morning Act of Kindness

.

My family joined a farming co-op this year. That means that we own a share of "our" farmer's crops and each Tuesday morning a sweet young boy pulls up in my drive in the farm van and unloads my crate of crops.

I look forward to Tuesday mornings, although I'm not sure what that says about my pathetic life. I like the unknown of what's in the crate...what goodies will he bring?

A few weeks ago I decided to bake some scones on Tuesday morning. They were Orange Blueberry Scones and in the back of my mind I was baking them so that I could give our delivery boy a treat when he dropped off our crops.

He was so grateful.

Last week it was Orange Chocolate Chip Muffins. Today it was Oatmeal Raisin Scones. Do you think, by now, he expects a treat when he gets here on Tuesday morning? What started as a sort of random act of kindness has most definitely turned into something deliberate. And I don't think there's any way I can stop now. So, if you're in the neighborhood on Tuesday morning, there are hot baked goodies -- be sure to stop.

  2. I'm sure he looks forward to delivery to your house! I've thought about doing that myself (joining a farming co op). The thing is...they deliver to a Sams Club nearby...no delivery to my house...I have to go pick it up.

  5. What a cute story! I am sure the delivery boy appreciates stopping by your house each Tuesday. Orange Blueberry Scones sound delicious ... I've always wanted to try making scones. Maybe this will be my first attempt!

  6. So nice of you to prepare treats for him, I'm glad to hear about people still being this kind in the world we live in today.

    God Bless,

  7. I think this speaks volumes of your heart. What a lovely lady you are and I, personally, have been on the receiving end of your kindess . . . really, with today's worries and feeling "alone" as some do, when folks like you reach out in love and faith, it's very moving . . . and it is INSPIRING!! You have made me want to be a better person . .

  9. How old fashioned you are too! :) My grandmother used to do the same thing. What a blessing you are to so many. I hope you do keep it up but I also hope he doesn't come to expect it every time. ;)

  10. Charlotte,
You could most definitely make it by Tuesday!

    Nancy,
I have to say the best part about the co-op is delivery!

    Michelle,
Thank you. I know you'd do the same. You are one of the kindest people I know!

    Thank you, Julia.

They are awesome, Sarah (I can't take credit for doing any more than following the recipe). Do try them!

Thank you, Thomas. It's nice of you to say so.

Thank you for your sweet sentiment, Sarah. Sniff, sniff. ;-)

AK -- I knew what you meant which is the only reason I pointed it out. I didn't want anyone else reading to think otherwise.

Ellen, He may or may not come to expect it (somehow I think he might, but in a good way), but now I'd never want to let him down! I have oldest child syndrome!

  11. If there were a way for me to make it to your house every Tuesday morning, there is no way you'd ever get rid of me -- I'm like a stray cat that way ;)

  12. you know what they say...
    "no good deed goes unpunished"
(that would be on your end though 'cause it looks like HE is benefitting!)
and feel free to punish me with your baked goods ANY day!
