Have no anxiety at all, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God. Then the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

A Little Hell on Earth

.

Ten things I was thinking I would rather be doing while I was mulching beds in the backyard yesterday morning:

Shopping for new sandals.

Shopping for fabric for some new jammie shorts for Peach.

Sewing some new jammie shorts for Peach.

Having a manicure, pedicure, or both at the same time.

Baking some more Coconut Chocolate Chunk Blondies.

Watching an old movie (I would even rather watch an old WWII movie than mulch beds).

Reading a book on the deck with a glass of lovely fruit tea at my fingertips.

Watching my husband mulch the beds while reading a book on the deck with a glass of lovely fruit tea at my fingertips

Taking a nap under a ceiling fan.

Sitting under the fan in nothing buy my panties (sorry, the situation went downhill fast).

As a natural born red head, I don't tolerate the outdoors long in the summer. As much as I love the idea of gardening, I wilt in the heat like an impatiens in the hot summer sun. I decided that if I ever make it to heaven, someone else's hell will be spent mulching my flower beds.

My only reward was having my face down in all this lush greenness. Today I'm parking myself somewhere in the shade, with that glass of tea.

Hostas and yellow lamium.

Hostas and white astilbe.

Yellow archangel and pachysandra.

.
Daylilies -- no flowers yet.

More pachysandra, English ivy and hostas.

  2. Wow, I was not expecting that "sitting in your panties" line!! haha!

You DO know what you will be doing in your purgatory time, don't you?

Your plants look so lush and beautiful though now!!

  3. I wish I had a green thumb. Now, should I really bother to look after some garden, I would have to study about it and drive myself nuts - time investment for sure. I may start with potted plants . . .

  4. I would enjoy doing all those things with you. Even the mulching, provided we do it in the early morning when everything is cool and dewy. That's really the only time I enjoy gardening.

  8. Margaret, You are too kind. Love ya.

Jamie, I told you it went downhill fast. One minute I was thinking about that book in the shade and the next thing I knew, I had all my clothes off under the fan (only not really)!

Sarah -- I don't have a green thumb -- I kill everything growing indoors. I's just the shady backyard and lots of rain!

Sara -- I started early, but by the time I finished it was noon (and hot).

Michelle -- thanks, the greens are huge but they will only get a couple flowers -- too much shade in that spot.

Sarah -- Thanks (I really spent most of it cooking -- but that's better than gardening).

Regina -- nope, too many bugs!
