Today is high school boy's last day, at least of the regular school year. On Monday he'll start summer gym for a month. That's twice a day back and forth to school -- motherly torture. And then he'll probably do a chemistry prep course for one week. Not a lot of summer left after that. I feel badly for the poor boy -- they really do work them far too hard in school. But he never complains because he enjoys school (and he knows the alternative is home).
The other two are finishing testing week. Then Noah has about 15 more lessons in math left in 6th grade and several more spelling lessons for Peach (she's not a natural speller that one). We'll probably be doing a bit each day for all of June. Then the chore of keeping them from losing it all for two months. Reading time each day and a few math problems.
I admire moms who school all year, but I look forward to having time to get things done that don't get done during the school year. I have a hard time balancing all year long. And it would be so unfair for one to get a summer break and not the others. We're a mixed family that way.
So, we're almost there. Almost. (Close enough that I started my summer reading.)

It has just worked out for us that we're round-the-year schoolers, but I can see based on early polling, that we're going to have to knuckle down and get it all done on a regular school schedule. It's too hard to the farm chores AND the schooling.
