Have no anxiety at all, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God. Then the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

Mother of the Unborn, Pray for us

.

You'd have to be living in a cave to not know what's going on at Notre Dame the past few weeks, and especially today. I've seen the video of Fr. Weslin more than a dozen times, and I feel a little suspicious that the media is replaying the footage, not for the sympathy it will garner, but to poke fun. Pictures of the faithful, with their hands in cuffs and their rosaries dangling from their fingers, have made it onto every news source. Think Satan isn't laughing? The enemy is within.

I mentioned in another post that Satan would be most successful by using a Catholic priest to be divisive. While some Catholics follow Fr. Jenkins, others follow the Catholic bishops. In the last few days I've seen students pitted against each other in news interviews, Notre Dame alumnus in disagreement with each other, members of the body of Christ at complete odds with each other on who is "right." Doesn't anyone see who they please with their fighting? It is certainly not Our Lord, nor His Heavenly Father. And it is certainly not his Blessed Mother. He who crawls on the ground is most pleased (Genesis 3:14).

NCR journalist Tom McFeely wrote, about Arizona State's decision not to honor the president with a degree, "ASU declined to grant Obama the honor of an honorary degree on the grounds he hasn’t done enough to earn one, whereas Notre Dame is conferring the identical honor even though Obama has done far more than enough, through his promotion of abortion, to disqualify himself from ever receiving such an honors from an authentically Catholic institution."

Praying to Our Mother in heaven is just about the only thing we can do at this point.

Prayer for life by Pope John Paul II

O Mary, bright dawn of the new world,
Mother of the living,
to you do we entrust the cause of life:
Look down, O Mother, upon the vast numbers
of babies to be born,
of the poor whose lives are made difficult,
of men and women who are victims of brutal violence,
of the elderly and the sick killed
by indifference or out of misguided mercy.
Grant that all who believe in your Son
may proclaim the Gospel of life
with honesty and love to the people of our time.
Obtain for them the grace
to accept that Gospel as a gift ever new,
the joy of celebrating it with gratitude
throughout their lives
and the courage to bear witness to it resolutely,
in order to build,
together with all people of good will,
the civilization of truth and love,
to the praise and glory of God,
the Creator and lover of life.

~~ Pope John Paul II
Encyclical Letter "The Gospel of Life"
Given in Rome, on March 25,
the Solemnity of the Annunciation of the Lord,
in the year 1995.

  1. Good post, with the hopeful ending to pray. Yes, I believe that is all we can do.

Your pictures/paintings of Mary have all been sooooo beautiful.

  2. It's Obama's plan to separate the Catholic Church. Check out RealCatholicTV on YouTube, they've got an excellent piece up on Obama's "Catholic Plan"... actually pretty scary.

  3. I agree with Jamie, this is a good post. I am not sure that praying is all we can do. The protests that are conducted around the nation need to have more news coverage. The organizers of these protests need to contact the news stations in their areas and let them know about the upcoming protests. I also agree with Tom McFeely's comments. I don't think that President Obama has proven himself in such a short time to deserve the honor of degree. I think we all need to pray for our faith and our nation. Thank you for the opportunity to post comments on your web site.
