Have no anxiety at all, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God. Then the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

Happy St. Patrick's Day

.

It's a very festive day today, isn't it? It reminds me of Thanksgiving -- all the fun with no obligations. I think that St. Patrick must be taking delight in so much happiness over his feast day (even if it does end up with sloppy drunks and green beer-stained shoes).

We started our day with Frosted Lucky Charms -- they're magically delicious. The kids can't quite get over that I'm actually saying that. I suppose it's very unlike me. It's also very unlike me to buy marshmallow cereal, so it must all be due to the magic of St. Patrick.

I was prompted, by this fun feast day, to start my collection of little saints. I've seen these a few places around and have had the supplies to make them for a while. Again, the magic of St. Patrick prompted me to get 'er done. And here he is on the kitchen table, hiding among the shamrocks. He looks very serious, but then, he had some serious work to do on this earth.

Today the children and I will do another art project (yesterday's is pictured below), watch a movie, and bake some yummy green frosted sugar cookies.

And here is Peach's Celtic Cross that she painted yesterday, hanging in the back window. Can you see that glitter? Why is it that each time we use glitter I end up cursing the creature who created it and wondering why in the world I am ever tempted to use it? Must have been the magic of St. Patrick again.

And though, it's somewhat cliche, the sentiment is real and so I leave you with the Old Irish Blessing:

May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind always be at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
and rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.

  2. Your little St. Pat is too cute! Like the cross, she did a nice job. Don't stress the glitter: they have glitter glue pens now, with much less mess!

    God Bless,

  3. Happy St. Patrick's Day to you as well. Many blessings! Love your wee St. Pat. Good work. Peach did a swell job on her cross. Glitter is a no-no in our house. Well, I use this stuff in card making now and again and I find it for days - it's soooo very fine on my face, on me backside (I'll end up sitting in some) and all over the table. For ages.

  5. i love that little st. patrick. he is so darling. and as for glitter, well, i agree, but we've got tubes and vials in just about every color. sometimes i even notice hubby has a glittery glow to his face! so while it does end up everywhere, i kind of like it!
    but that's just me.
anyway, happy, happy day to you.
try not to stain your shoes.......

  6. Thanks, Jane. Hope you have a good one with your Irish clan!

Thanks, Tracy. I think we have all means of glitter, pens and loose! Somehow all the glue pens end up with lids off and dried up. I don't suppose there's is any hope of getting rid of glitter completely -- not with a little girl in the family. I'll offer it up. ;-)

Thanks, Sarah. It's not the wearing of the glitter that bothers me -- it's having it all over the kitchen table and unintentionally eating it at the next meal!

    Thanks, Regina. Happy feast day!

Regan, Thank you. And while I'll enjoy an Irish beer this eve, not a drop of green beer has ever passed these lips (or ever will)! ;-)

  7. I have been seeing those saints around, too, and I think they are so adorable! Your first one turned out great! I like him nestled in the shamrocks. And what a great idea to allow Lucky Charms for breakfast on this day. I will have to remember that for next year ... The kids will be SO excited to have such a treat! Happy St. Patrick's Day to you!
