My intent this week was to skip the liturgical activities this Friday. We are taking off school next week in preparation and celebration of Thanksgiving, and between shopping, cooking, cleaning, and couple of doctor's appointments, I knew I couldn't squeeze in feast day celebrations.
Then I remembered that Sunday is the Feast of Christ the King -- the last Sunday before Advent. I love the Feast of Christ the King. I love the Mass, and the music we will sing. So, I'm posting activities for Sunday only.
● The Gospel reading for Sunday is Matthew 25: 31-46.
● For activities related to the Gospel, go here, or download here.
● About the feast day, including recipes and activities, go here.
● And for party ideas, go here.
● And if you did not just make a crown cake for St. Elizabeth of Hungary's Feast Day, you can make my easy crown cake, found here. Or try a King Cake (using red and gold sugar instead of purple, gold and green).

This morning I'm headed over to the hospital for another ultrasound on my leg. They'll be looking to see if the Coumadin has prevented the clot from growing and to see if my body has successfully started to dissolve the clots in both veins. I had hoped to go to Mass this morning, on the Feast of the Presentation of Mary, but we got snow last night and there are apparently icy patches on the roads. It's a tight squeeze, schedule-wise, to get to Mass and then to the hospital, and if we run into traffic from the weather, I won't make it. I'll pray a few decades on the way instead.
The rest of the weekend is almost completely unplanned and for that I am grateful. I get my hair cut tomorrow and then I'm kicking my men out of the house for the Ohio State vs Michigan game. This is the big one for Ohio State, and my husband will drive me up a wall, so I'm sending him to his parents' house with my sons. Peach and I will have a quiet afternoon to maybe watch a princess movie and finish up some rosaries I have waiting for me.
I have two movies to watch this weekend and I can't wait to see them. They are older movies that I had actually never heard of before a week ago. I can't remember now where I read about them, but the library had them and now they are in my possession. They are The Scarlet and the Black with Gregory Peck and Christopher Plummer, and The Inn of Sixth Happiness with Ingrid Bergman. I think tonight I'll make some caramel popcorn and snuggle on the couch with one of them. Besides having rosaries to keep me busy I have a couple skeins of yarn with which to make Peach a hooded scarf (rainbow run is what I have). Shhh! Don't tell her. It's a surprise, even if she did spy the yarn in my knitting bag.
I think there might also be some Sunbutter Cookies in my immediate future. I stopped at Trader Joe's yesterday and stocked up on Sunbutter. I'm going to try to get some Snickerdoodles baked for college boy, too. I have to take something to him this afternoon and would like to take him a homemade treat. Snickerdoodles are his favorites. I guess that means I better get busy.
Have a great weekend, my friends. Live, and love.

Prayed for your appointment... hope it went well!!
Barbara, praying the appointment shows your body is making progress in dissolving the clots. Please keep us posted so we know what to pray for.
ReplyDeleteBoth of your movies are favorites in our family. We especially love Gregory Peck in The Scarlet and the Black.
Thanks so much for taking the time to share the liturgical activities with us. They are a blessing to my family and me.
