Have no anxiety at all, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God. Then the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

Need a Good Read?

.
The other day when I wrote about my recent reads, my cousin Jill left a comment and told me about a website called goodreads. It's a friendly place where you list the books you've read with a rating and even a comment, if you wish, and then you can find like-minded people for recommendations of good reads. Cool idea.

In the past I have used NoveList when looking for a good book. Like goodreads, I was always able to find some new titles. But, unlike goodreads, I could only access it through my library's website, with my library card number. At NoveList I can type in an author, and find an "author read-alike"or type in a book title, and find a new title by choosing certain subject headings, such as "young families," or "Mother and daughter," or "pregnancy."

At goodreads, I kind find someone who likes the books that I like, and then I can see what they have read. It's kind of like asking your friends to recommend a good book.

You can also keep a list of friends -- my cousin Jill is now my "friend" -- and keep an eye on what they read. It's free, so what's to lose? I spent about an hour last night looking at "my reading history" on my library's website and entering my titles at goodreads. It only took about an hour to enter more than 90 titles.

If you decide to join, send me an email and I'll add you to my friends. I'd love to know what you're reading!

NOTE: Another bonus to goodreads is if you see a book you'd like to read, you can add it to your "to-read" list. Whenever I find a book I'd like to read, I can never remember it when I need it. Now I have a special place that I can always go back to.
