Have no anxiety at all, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God. Then the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

Nothing Much or Much About Nothing

.
You decide which it is.

I went out late this morning to run a quick errand. I had to stop for gas and almost had a heart attack -- $3.54 a gallon right here in the heart of Ohio. Ugh! I put in $10 and that got me 2.8 gallons of gasoline. I don't really have a gas guzzlin' car, but that will not get me far. This is going to put a serious cramp in going to daily Mass, and that is really very sad. But, the paycheck will only go so far, so changes have to be made. I'm not filling up the tank until the prices go down. It will not only keep me from thinking "I have a full tank" and using more than I need, but hopefully the "gallons per transaction" statistics will show a drop in usage and force prices back down.

After we left the gas station and on the way home I stopped at Wendy's. We eat (or take out) at Wendy's about twice a month for lunch -- the kids usually eat pretty healthy there and so do I (we live in Wendy's hometown, so the food is pretty good there). I ordered a Southwestern Chicken Caesar Salad, which I've had several times and really enjoy. The chicken is very tasty and the salad has "roasted" corn and black beans. For less than $5 it's really pretty decent. Today when we got home, a regular Chicken Caesar Salad was in the bag. That is just such a bummer. Not a life-altering type bummer, but disappointing nevertheless. The salad was almost completely tasteless. I know, I know, get over it. But after the gas station, I needed a pick-me-upper, not a downer. Pooh.

On a completely different note, I'm so happy that clothesline time is back. I love hanging the clothes on the line. Not only do I love spending a little time breathing the fresh air and listening to the birds, but using the clothesline forces me to get the laundry done during daylight hours. I don't know about you, but I can be a procrastinator. I often find myself putting laundry away just so that I can get in bed (isn't the master bed where every one stacks their clean folded laundry?). Yesterday I used the clothesline again for the first time this year and the laundry was folded and put away by 5 p.m. I love that.

  1. So glad you have your clothesline to cheer you up after having to get gas this morning. yikes!

We have had to cut back to only 3 trips out each week. Wed, Fri & Sun. Gas was $3.69 per gallon yesterday, up from $3.59 last week. IT IS AWFUL!!! It is forcing me to plan ahead and make the most of my trips. Thank goodness for the internet, or I would be going crazy! :)

    God Bless!

  2. Yikes--we're up to 3.39 here in NJ, with prices going up 5 to 10 cents a day at some stations. And I'm not loving the new "higher prices for credit cards" policy we've been seeing.
For that kind of money they should be washing my car while I fill up the tank.

  3. ...or just moving the laundry to the floor so I can get into bed :)

Trust me, you are not the only one!

  4. Barbara, we're having to do the same thing. We simply can't afford the gas to attend daily mass every day. Gas here is now $3.69 a gallon.

I'm so glad you're able to use your clothesline again. It's wonderful being outdoors while hanging clothes.
