Have no anxiety at all, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God. Then the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

Two Good Flicks

Doug and I watched two great movies this week, one for the first time and one for the second time. I highly recommend both of them, and if you're lucky, they are at your local library.

The first one was one we had seen before, but thoroughly enjoyed the second time and would watch again. It's On a Clear Day, a British movie about an older man, who after being "let go" from his career job, working for a shipbuilder, decides to swim the English Channel. Great characters, including his wife, son, and several friends. Doug and I both really enjoyed this movie -- so watch it with your honey. Safe for older kids too, although there might have been a little language.

The second movie was The Prestige. Set in the late 1800s, this movie is about two British magicians (played by Christian Bale and Hugh Jackman) who have an extremely fierce, unhealthy rivalry. This movie twists and turns, and flashes back quite a bit, so you have to pay attention. But the end result is a really good, "wow" movie. The kind where you sit in your seat after the movie is over and say "oh......... oh!" The cast also includes Michael Caine and Scarlett Johannson.
Doug also enjoyed this one, not a chick flick at all. I encouraged my 17-year-old to watch it also, but younger than that would not understand it.

  3. I think they are both 2006 movies. On a Clear Day might even be older. Both are on DVD and I checked them out at the library.
