Thanksgiving really wiped me out because besides hosting, I was in the midst of a bad cold. I had a sore throat on Thanksgiving and the next day no voice. By Monday I had a cough and runny nose. My kids bring these colds home and they are done with them in two days. I'm on day nine! With all the coughing I have little energy for much else. But I have many orders for scapulars that need to be delivered by Christmas, so I embroider while Faith does her school work.
I did finish this little test-knit tam over the weekend though. It's called Confection Featheround, as the design on the brim looks like feathers. It's really cute and the color very original -- Knit Pick's CotLin Conch. The color is definitely more peachy/orange than pictured on their website. I thought it would be more feminine. But the pattern is cute, and when the creator publishes it, I'll let you know. The test knit period is almost up. Here's my Ravelry page for it. It's a baby size, so I'll put it in my shop -- wish I had a baby to model it!
I'm still previewing a book, so nothing new on that front. I watched a great British police series while I was knitting -- River. It's about a police detective who is investigating the murder of his partner, and he has the gift/curse of hearing and seeing "dead people." Not "dead people" like Sixth Sense -- they are not zombies -- but he sees and speaks to the people involved in his investigation. Most people think he's crazy, but it's a very entertaining crazy!
That's all for now -- pop over to Ginny's for more books and projects.
I hope you feel better soon! I wish I could let you borrow my baby!! The hat is beyond adorable and the color is perfect. I will pin this pattern and buy it when it's ready! Except I don't own dpn's, and being new to knitting, I can't seem to keep track of my rows very well when I'm knitting in the round (with a baby and toddler and big kids distracting me half way through each row. I can't pick back up where I left off without messing up!). Anyway, I will try to overcome these obstacles to try this pattern... it's that cute.
ReplyDeleteThis is a pattern that requires some attention. But the brim is knit flat and then joined and the top picked up from the top of the brim. I learned some new tricks while knitting it, but they were all a lot easier than I thought they would be. Most of the top is just knitting in the round. It's just the "hole" rounds that you have to pay attention to. And you could knit it with a circular needle until the decreases, if you had the right length. I wish I could borrow your baby, too! My photos would be a lot cuter!
DeleteI have read so many people with colds (and they linger too!) on the blogs today. I hope you are feeling back to normal real soon. That hat is precious. It looks like one that I would have loved to have my baby wear (20 years ago - how did that time go by so fast?). Blessings <3
ReplyDeleteThanks, Donna. Coughing a little less. But, now my daughter has a fever, so new virus? Old virus? Only time will tell.
DeleteHope you are feeling better soon!
ReplyDeleteOh and that hat! Adorable!!
DeleteThanks, Jamie, and...thanks, Jamie! :-)
DeleteI think that hat is charming! Thanks for the movie recommendation too!
ReplyDeleteGot any babies over there? ;-) It's a series -- but it's good. Maybe not for S, not that she would even be interested.
DeleteHope you're feeling better! And there was a show on stateside for a while called "Pushing Daisies" with a similar theme: a baker who could "wake up" dead people for a moment and find out what had happened to them, or at least get some hints to help with the investigation. :-) I remember liking it.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jennie. Unfortunately this is the second Sunday I've missed Mass. The cough is bad and Faith has it now. As much as I wanted to avoid the doctor, I think I'm going to have to go. I'm worn out coughing.
DeleteThe character who was killed -- the main character's partner -- is so very likable. She's a fun, vivacious woman. I've seen her in something, but can't think what.
