Have no anxiety at all, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God. Then the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

Yarning Along...with a finished sweater!

I finally finished that green tea Bulle I started in January. (big heavy sigh)

I mentioned a week or so ago that I wasn't very happy with how it was looking, and I still am not happy with the way the yarn looks, but I love the pattern and I am pleased with how it fits Faith, for the most part. And she loves how it feels, so I guess I'll excuse the yarn. Better that it feel good than look good, right? The yarn has been discontinued, so it may be that I was not the only one not happy with the way it performed.

calling to Maggie, though it looks like she might have been sneezing ;-)

see what I mean about the gathers being low?

the side with a cute vintage mother of pearl button, and you can see my decreases about two inches up from the button (see Ravelry notes for more on that)

the back -- you can see how well the sleeves fit from this angle -- for once my tight cast-off paid off!

I did make a modification, well two, to the pattern. I (a) decided not to add pockets because Faith didn't want them, and (b) did some decreasing in the side after I unraveled those five inches or so last week. My overall desire would be to have the sweater much more narrow, through the underarm and across the chest, but then, Faith is a string bean. I wish I felt comfortable modifying hand knits the way I do sewing patterns. If I make another I will probably wait a year, but even then might make a smaller size with more length. I think the gathers fall a little lower than they should, but maybe once she hits puberty, she will start to fill out the "above-the-gathers" space. I'm glad I made the decreases because at list it fits better around the hips.

My read is Waiting to Be Heard by Amanda Knox. You probably remember Amanda's story, if not her name. The read is good, debatable, as it is her side, but a quick read, and that's saying a lot with 480 pages and not much time for reading. No picture of the book.

I'm glad this project is finished. I am now moving on to my mom's socks which I abandoned last fall.

  1. The sweater is beautiful! And as long as she is happy in it, it's all good!

  3. I really like the color of the sweater and the button on the side is such a cute touch. It adds to the sweater. And I agree, if she's happy then it is all good!

  4. Beautiful sweater. You and Ginny amaze me with your talent.

That is interesting your take on Amanda Knox. I believe that she is innocent and was at her boyfriends (surprised she doesnt have some disease for sleeping around so much) but she was not raised with any religion but still...her reputation was ruined. She was too trusting of the police, I think, and should have talked to a lawyer right away.

Really..you think she might have had something to do with that murder? When I read that book..I totally thought she was innocent. Did we read the same book!??? ha just kidding. I also liked the Italian priest.

  5. What a lovely looking sweater! Faith looks like she's really enjoying it, and great color combo she has there. Yay, Mom!

  6. Jenny, the little buttonhole flap is the part of the sweater I like best!

  7. Christine,
I do not feel she is guilty of the murder. I just don't think it all sounds legitimate. Some of her stories sound mighty fishy, but, ask my kids -- I'm suspicious by nature. Fortunately I catch them frequently when they are in mischief (probably only half the time they are in mischief, but I catch them a lot). My dad was a police officer and I think I get that suspicious nature honestly!

I haven't gotten to the priest, just the sister.

  8. Kimberlee,
That girl has the CRAZIEST color combos. Today's is pretty tame as she goes! Not like me at all, that girl!

  9. I think the sweater is so lovely! And what a great accomplishment to get it done!

    She'll learn -- you NEED pockets! ;-)

  10. Love the sweater. I was thinking of knitting that too. Molly's sweater was the size 7/8. She is tiny. It fits her perfect right now. I think I went a little longer than the pattern called for.

    1. Oh Ana Maria, I KNEW you were going to call me on that! ;-)
I am waiting for the baby package to arrive before I show photos of what I spent so much time on. It will probably be tomorrow.

  12. I might have to get that darn book and be the deciding person between you and Christine!

    1. You let me know what you think, Jamie. She does a lot of "I am really not the kind of girl to party" and then she smokes pot every day. Or "I really don't think sex should be casual" but I sleep with virtual strangers. Flakey. It doesn't mean she's a murderer, but she doesn't exactly come off as honest.

  13. Cute girly and sweet sweater! :) And is that girl walking on stilts or what? Looks like she's getting tall! I hope one day to be able to knit a sweater :)

    1. Her legs are so long, Cheryl! And so skinny. Not an ounce of plump on her. And she did shoot up this summer!

      PS sweaters are so fun!

  14. I'm catching up with your posts today after two weeks of doctors and medical issues. I love the guardian angels post, the exquisite "For Babies" rosaries, your thoughts and reflections, and the pics of Faith in her finished (beautiful) sweater. Thank you for sharing the beauty of your life. ~ Rosemary in Ohio

  16. Lovely sweater with an even lovelier girl wearing it. :)

I've been dying to make a sweater lately. I blame the weather and the constant stream of socks I've been making lately. I'm making a pair right now for my mil's Christmas gift. It's in the same colorway that I knit her shawl in a few years ago for Mother's Day.

I really miss these Yarn Along posts and need to get back to them. I was supplementing them by posting quickly to instagram and using a yarnalong hashtag, but it just doesn't cut it.
