Have no anxiety at all, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God. Then the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

12 / year...February

Here it is the last day of February again. Remember that idea I had, to chronicle each month in photos? Well, I'm back.

If you want to play along, please do. No quality or quantity limits...no time limits (except it would probably be a good idea to do one a month ...that's kind of the idea). Other than one a month, do whatever you like. I will too. Some months may be busy and fun, some may be boring. You can be artistic or not, just show life, or be symbolic. You choose it all!

You are welcome to snatch my image. I never did get a button made -- it just was not a priority. You can snag it and link back if you want. Just leave a comment here so I can come and see what you did in February.

At the very beginning of the month is my husband's nephew's birthday.
Nicholas is just few weeks older than Faith and they are buddies.

Nicholas is a huge Lego fan, but since he owns every single Lego set ever produced,  I had to come up with something unique, inspired by a pin at Pinterest, of course.  Although it is a Lego travel case, I filled it with treats. {smile}

Just in case you can't tell, those shapes are supposed to be Legos.

The Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes and a falling-over-made-of-Blondies grotto. Next time use Rice Krispie treats like everyone else.

I ordered sourdough starter from King Arthur Flour because my family loves sourdough bread. We've had a lot of good bread lately and I have made several loaves with no yeast at all. It does take a few days, but it's good. Yum.

Lent begins.

Valentine's Day: no one in my house gave up sweets, so we indulged (though we don't normally have dessert during the week during Lent). Another inspired-by-Pinterest idea. The "truffles" were really, truly yummy. I would never make these before (brownies cut out) because I abhor waste. Not a problem with these.

I'm spending every free moment sewing scapulars for Easter baskets --
not mine but a lot of others.
This is a new design (on top), though admittedly it takes quite a bit longer
to create the Sacred Heart crown than the others.

This kid is a nut.
This is his sister's hat but he thinks he's a bear when he wears it.
What a goof!

Faith's birthday is February 17, she turned 11, and she had a big girl party, and I don't mean big girls, I mean big party, at least by my standards. Party cake:

Party girls:

Cute, but loud. Even during "tea time."

And speaking of cute, oh, my goodness. Are these two the cutest? (That was rhetorical -- no need to answer -- of course they are.)
I made Margaret's Nicholas a quilt and forgot to take any pictures
 before I mailed it. She did me the favor of taking a few.

Isn't he a honey? And look, he's smiling! He likes it!

Oh, and he's sleeping...he likes it. {love}

I surely scolded her for those bare feet,
but she assured me it was just for the photo shoot.
Oh, and that bare head...tsk, tsk, tsk.{wink}

Joshua's birthday falls at the end of the month on the 26th. He turned 21. Oh, boy. If he wasn't such a good boy I'd be worried. Happy Birthday to my Joshua Bear.

After the stunning announcement earlier in the month, and then seeing Jessica's post on her incredible Papal Lap Book, I decided Faith and I would make a Pope Benedict XVI lap book, and a Papal lap book.

We She finished the Pope Benedict XVI book today. Simple but sweet.Oh, that sweet man.

That's all for February. I'll see you next month. That's March 31. It's a date.

Well, I'll be back before then, just not with all the pictures. You know what I meant.

  2. Love the new scalar design. The quilt ( and children) are beautiful. The bread Looks delish, and now I have to buy some starter...I'll just never get around to making my own.

  5. I love the new scapular! I'll be ordering one this year, for sure, as we have another First Holy Communion coming up at some point.

    You made the one for my son's FHC and he wears it daily, and he is not at all gentle with things (out with the chickens, the dog, his bike, his siblings) and it still looks like new!

  9. Oh, I don't usually squee, but I sure do love that picture of baby Nicholas sleeping on his new quilt...bare feet and all. That bottom-up pose--TOO sweet.
    Yum, sourdough! I need to get some "keep the starter alive" tips from you. That's where I always go wrong.

  10. I am madly in love with both the baby and the quilt. Tell me he's not going to turn 21 some day! You can tell me...but I won't believe you. I've got two big boys and remember when they were all little pink tootsies & soft cuddly bottoms.

    (It's a good thing, isn't it, that they don't read these comments?)

  11. Margaret,
    It is almost impossible for me to put the two boys together -- the tiny one with the sweet toes, the smooshie bottom, and the milky neck, and the big one (like 6 feet and 220 pounds!) with facial hair and saggy pants (he is so lazy he won't put a belt on with jeans, so we see a lot of plumbers crack!).

    I wish that God had arranged for us to have back that newborn on every birthday. Doesn't that seem fair? So we could fall in love all over again? Oh those sweet baby boys.

  12. Yes, we should be able to get the baby back on their birthday! I really like that idea!!

    I messed up my KAF sourdough starter and had to toss it after two years. I miss the homemade sourdough bread; it's so easy and oh, fresh bread just tastes so good.

  13. Gorgeous quilt and great photos, as usual. You're so organized to put this together and I will enjoy seeing your photos every month.

    I shoot with a Sony, too!
