Have no anxiety at all, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God. Then the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

well...

(That's a deep subject, I know. Ha ha ha)

...I don't know whether to be more offended that you didn't read yesterday's blog post or that you don't want Our Sorrowful Mother's chaplet. I would be more offended at the latter if I didn't actually believe it was the former. I usually get a good response when I post a giveaway, but I didn't title it as such, so I suppose that was a bit of a test.

{Not that I was testing you. Really}

Anyway...if you would like to enter the drawing for an Our Lady of Sorrows chaplet, leave your contact info in the comm box of the post below this one (not this one because I might forget it's here.)

On a completely unrelated note, did you see the most recent episode of Downton Abbey? (yes, I know it airs on Sunday, but I never see it "live.") Did your heart break when Matthew saw his mother? Oh my goodness, I tear up just thinking about it. It's a mother /son thing. What a beautiful moment that was. They did a good job with it. Do leave comments on this topic on this post. I'd love to know what you thought of it.

  1. What a coincidence to find this new post, mostly as I was just (this minute) able to read the last from you (high speed a la ski slopes day). Well away... my friend (smiling),fear not, even if silent, many are right here with you. I wanted to share that I personally have an incredible devotion to Our Lady of Sorrows! Life is beautiful, everyday, even though (oh yes, even though...)there are many sorrows to suddenly pierce a mother's heart. We are so fortunate as Catholics, so incredibly blessed in fact to have Our Lady's example to show us how to handle the difficult times when life suddenly takes our breath away. Love the giveaway, love YOU! :)

  2. I already won a beautiful rosary from you a couple years ago and so I don't enter anymore because if I win, people will think it's rigged.

    :)

  3. Ahhhhh!!!!! DA spoilers!! ;)

We don't watch the new episodes on Sunday, but usually wait till Friday night after the kids are in bed. It's our weekly date. :)

And I hadn't read the giveaway post! I've been so hit and miss lately. Heading over now.

  7. Ditto what Jamie said. I was super busy yesterday---it was a day from you-know-where---and I was really thnking I could stand to mediate on Our Lady's sorrows, but I also didn't want to go there, if you know what I mean. Bad day.

Loved DA. Matthew and his mom. Matthew and Mary.

  8. I love Downton Abbey! I went to PBS and ordered both seasons with the special book (wanted to actually drool over the costuming in a book rather than freeze frame the dvd constantly). ;) Yes, my heart did a flip when he saw his dear mummy!!!

I would LOVE to win that chaplet. I had one once, that you made me. I had it blessed by my fav Dominican priest in MD. Well, something happened to a dear, sweet, Catholic friend of mine . . . and you guessed it, I gave it to her. :) and :(. So, yup, I'd love another!!!! If I don't win, could I put in an order for one?????

    Love you, sweet gel!

  10. I am fully invested in Downton. Rob and I finally got caught up last weekend, so I am good to go (although I won't let any spoilers slip!)

Yes, Matthew and his dear mother was such a tender moment. You could see the relief in his eyes, sort of like "Oh good! My mother is here, she will make things better!" And I think that Lavinia and Mary are both bearing up well, and that's coming from a person who has no real soft spot for Mary (although her recent conduct is growing on me.)

But to be honest, I really just want to hang out below-stairs with Carson, Mrs. Hughes, Anna, Bates, and Mrs. Patmore. I could totally get into having tea with them.

I clearly need an DA intervention.

  11. And does anyone else just want to slap O'Brien and Thomas silly?

    Again, an intervention . . .

  12. Sara, I have to say I am really liking Mary. I've come a long way, baby.

  13. Sarah, I'd love to own the series, but I'll have to guard my dvr'd episodes with my life.

  14. I'll be sure to enter you, Jean.

  15. Aimee, It was like there was something missing until mother came. That look in his eyes was like he didn't even know what was missing until she was there. Sigh.

Secretly (or not so secretly) I was totally hoping Thomas would have a bomb fall on his head. Ugh. Intervention anyone?

  16. well, aren't I silly asI forgot to mention about Downton Abbey. No one informed me that here in Canada, it's not able to be searched because it's known as "Masterpiece Theatre" and offered me no capability to find it. sigh.. Last week my PVR caught the first episode, but I refuse to begin there. I'm like Sarah, ordering the dvds from Amazon to begin and catch up later. You're all making me drool, can't wait to see this!

  17. I have one of your seven sorrows chaplets already. :-) Everybody seems to be watching this Downton Abbey. Is it that good? Is it worth hunting it down to try to watch it? Entertaining? Edifying? Anything?

    1. Is that you Jennie?

I am thoroughly enjoying Downton Abbey and I am not a TV girl. At all. The first season had a few hiccups (distasteful scenes) but so far this year all is on the up and up. Try this Sunday's episode and see if you like it. You can watch last year's on Netflix.

  21. Okay, I'm back. We watched the latest episode last night. You were so right about that mother/son moment. It was more his reaction than hers for me though. When he broke up, so did I. We fell in love with the show last year and though it continues to be a must-watch, much loved show, it has definitely changed moods. I like it better in a way now. All the drama last season was just surface stuff, now they are getting deeper and a little more real I think. War tends to do that. Also, I like how they have softened Lady Mary (she is my favorite daughter) and given O'Brien and Thomas more multidimensional personalities. All evil was kinda a bore and not very realistic.

Man, how I wish we lived closer! I'd bring over the Cabernet and we could sip and knit and watch together! :) …You know, it's funny, Barbara. It's like your my favorite neighbor, except we live hundreds of miles away. *sigh*

P.S. You did not sound whinny to me.

    ReplyDelete
  22. LOL!! I meant *whiny*. Though you definitely did not sound like a horse, either. ;)
