Have no anxiety at all, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God. Then the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

When you are Catholic, it's a small, beautiful world

When I saw Kim's words this morning I smiled to myself that I had already planned to share this story. Such a small world after all.

Yesterday evening a group of neighbor children gathered a few houses down. One of the children, a tiny girl who I thought was just born yesterday, apparently is now old enough to run with the big kids. Her house is on the next street over and she and her parents walk most evenings around our court. They stopped, a few houses down where the other children gathered, for a play break from their walk. When they continued their walk they came around the curve in front of our house and I happened to be sitting out front on the porch with my knitting. I heard the tiny girl chattering loudly about her play with the big kids, and then I heard her say "we were playing ring-around-the-rosary!" My head popped up and caught her Mother's look of surprise. She said "you mean ring-around-the-rosy?" But that little bit of a girl would not be corrected -- "No. Ring-around-the-ros-a-ry." And her mama just laughed and shook her head.

My daughter, the oldest in the pack, is the only Catholic child on the block. But I think she's doing a great job evangelizing. :-)

  1. That's a really cute story! Catholics are the minority in this town too... a good Sat. vigil Mass has 25-30 people including the server, choir and priest!

  2. Good for Faith!

I can read your blog today! No matter how many times I tried yesterday, it wouldn't let me in. I wonder if the rpc.blogrolling folks do that alot, and we just never hear about it!

  3. I finally figured out it was the Catholic Mother's blog list link on my sidebar. Readers had trouble with my food blog too. I don't know if it was hijacked or sold but I removed it. The weird thing I didn't have trouble until last night.
