Have no anxiety at all, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God. Then the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

I crack myself up

My college boy is having a holiday of sorts in Chicago. I miss him and he's only been gone three days. I wouldn't even normally see him all week but he's six hours away and so I miss him more. Make sense?

Today I took the opportunity to text him:

"Today is the Feast of the martyrdom of St. John the Baptist.  Be careful you don't lose your head."

Don't you just wish I was your mother?

  1. Well, I laughed out loud, so at least I share your sense of humor. :)

  2. Hahaha! My college boy spent part of the day "planking" in center city Philly, since the opening of school was delayed due to storm damage. Maybe I should have texted him a similar message today!

  3. LOL - I'll take you for my younger sis, since it'd be impossible for you to be my mother... Loved your text - hope your college boy did, too!

  4. Sheila, I'm glad to know we think alike. ;-)

Barb, ok. I admit. I had to google "planking.". I hope you find that as weird as I do. No offense to your college boy -- he is a youth (pronounced as in My Cousin Vinny). :-D

  5. Lori, younger sis? Really? I don't feel like anyone's younger anything! ;-)

Thanks, Sara. I think my son probably rolled his eyes!

  6. I WOULD have loved you for a mother. Then maybe I would have learned how to knit and sew!

  7. Christine -- you are so kind.:-D I'm certain that your mother was just the one you were supposed to have, but I'd love to teach you to knit and sew. There's just that distance thing.

  9. I love it! That's something my husband would text me . . . or my dad, if he ever texted. :) And I have a good mom already, but I'd definitely take you as that wry and down-to-earth next door neighbor type of friend! Especially since my neighborhood is totally empty during the day - I need a sidekick! ;)

  10. Hahaha! Yes, my son is a "yute." I found out last night that all the planking was for a contest his dorm was holding. He didn't win, but his picture made the front page of the school paper, so he's happy :) I'll be happy if he saves me a copy!

  11. Barb -- but how will you even know it is him? ;-)
