Have no anxiety at all, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God. Then the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

Daybook...chilly, rainy, sleepy Monday

Outside my window...

...gray skies, a chilly 47 degree temp, blustery and rainy. There is rain in the forecast every day until Friday. It could hardly be more different than it was a week ago when it was glorious spring. We seem to be going backward on the calendar instead of forward.

I am thinking...

...about a sick little girl. Faith is ill. Again. She had a low grade fever all weekend, slightly runny nose, a cough, and last night she vomited. Throw in the horrible allergy eyes she had on Friday (and for which we went to the doctor) and I just can't figure out what she has, but it is a tad worrisome. She seems to be ill a lot lately, and I don't know if she has a hyper immune system (hence the allergies) or something else is going on. Our pediatrician is very laid-back and I know he wouldn't get uptight, so I have tried not to get uptight as well. Still...

I am thankful for...

...homeschooling, especially with a prone-to-be-sick child.

...a newly-renovated bathroom. Just a few accessories left to install.

...a low-key weekend.

...a new mattress, even if it's awfully firm (hard).

From the lesson plans...

...finishing up a lot. I don't remember a year ever ending quite this way -- with a bit of a fizzle (and a fart, my husband would say). Not that it is disappointing, but very unceremonious and quiet. An end I would not have predicted, although it's not bad.

From the kitchen...

...bits of this and that this week -- trying to avoid the grocery store and use our stores. We were all supposed to sup out tonight before Joshua's spring concert, but the wee girl and I will have to stay home. Sad face.

I am wearing...

...gray velour pants, and a French blue turtleneck, gray socks and Haflinger socks. Back to winter-wear.

I am creating...

...rosaries with lots of stash. It's really obscene how many beads I have, even if some are just leftovers. I need to be more creative. I mailed the wedding rosaries and when I am certain the lovely couple has received them I'll post the pics. They were a delight to work on, having chosen every single detail.

I am reading...

...He Leadeth Me.  I had put it down and forgotten about it, and now I picked it back up. Very inspiring.

I am hoping...

...for a healthy girl. Not only do I prefer my daughter to be healthy for her own good, I had to cancel some appointments and I hope that they are safe on the calendar where I rescheduled them.

I am hearing...

...the weather radar -- Noah is watching for rain, and the music from my playlist...love that piano music.

Around the house...

...I'm going to go scour the new bathroom and then it will be entirely usable for a little girl's bath tonight. It's very funny -- Doug bought a toilet with a number one and a number two flusher. It's created quite a bit of excitement even among big boys. Sillies.

I am going...

...no place really, except to scrub the bath.

One of my favorite things...

...Our Blessed Mother. I so enjoy posting about her every single day in May. I fall in love with her all over again.

I am praying for...

...my children and my husband

...my niece Rachel. Her radiation treatment went well -- she ended up having her isolation at home because of the insurance issues. Apparently there was not one hospital in the Washington D.C. area that would/could do the treatment with military insurance. Her isolation is up today and she can be in the same room with others, but at least a few feet away. Fortunately she can now eat her normal diet.

...Doug's Uncle Walt who is undergoing chemo for bladder and kidney cancer.

...my priests

...several soldiers

...my cousin Amy (our Jill's older sister) who is being wed next weekend. Wedding novena to begin this week.

...all of the babies whose mothers are contemplating abortion this week.

A few plans for the rest of the week...

...pushing for more cleaning and getting ready for a big grad party.

A thought for the day...

"In times of desolation, God conceals Himself from us so that we can discover for ourselves what we are without Him."
– St Margaret of Cortona, feast day today

  1. Have you tried chiropractic? Be well little Faith.

  2. I remember Middle Sister having a rough couple of years with low-grade fevers and whatnot. She was a bit older than Faith (maybe 11 or so). She missed a lot of school those years and we never did find out what was up. And then suddenly she became extremely healthy. I hope the same is true for Faith.

Glad to hear that your niece's treatment is going well so far. Prayers for her and your uncle too.

  3. I'm sorry Faith is sick again; it bothers me every time she gets sick!

We're having the same wintry weather. Weird. Swim team was COLD last night. Meg's fingers were numb and lips blue after 20 laps.

    Envious of your 2-flush toilet...

  4. That sounds like some toilet! Just the kind of thing we could use around here. :-)

We have been having crazy weather. Davey was home this past weekend and offered plenty of complaints about the differences between Georgia weather and Kentucky's. Now that he's back down there, he'll be back to complaining about how hot it is. ;-)
