52 weeks of daily life in pictures: trials and celebrations,
the extraordinary and mundane -- whatever is unique to the week.
Join me if you like.
I started tiling the bathroom mirror that was in the kids' bath. I used the small tiles that we used as a border on the walls.
Tile finished. Still need to grout. It's going to be heavy so I also need to add some extra hanging system on the back. Still working on that.
We went to Doug's four-year-old niece's birthday party on Saturday. I brought the cake, which was chocolate on the inside per the birthday girl's request. When Olivia saw the cake her little tongue darted out and she gave a little air lick. Too cute!
Double rainbow on Sunday -- lots of rain again all week.
Doug stripped this white tile off the kitchen back splash last Friday...

...and replaced it with this glass mosaic tile on Saturday and Sunday. More on this job in a separate post. Let's just say these pretty little tiles were a real PITA (pain in the ...).
Tonight's big event...can you guess?
Added after the fact, because I can't sum up my week without including our trip to the ER:
These are the stitches holding together the gash in the chin that happened when the chin hit the gym floor, on the last day of homeschool gym, ever -- he went out with a bang, literally.
Strawberry freezer jam...yum.
Lots of sewing this week -- little tie tops for Faith.

Below you'll find a linky list because so many lovely women decided to join me in my 52 Weeks project. There are no rules (except the two below) -- if you want to start your 52 Weeks this week, go for it! I will keep the links up until next Wednesday, so you have almost a week to do it.
(1) Make sure you copy and paste the URL of your 52 Weeks blog post ( and not your main blog URL). You could also use of Flickr photo page if that's how you do things.
(2) Include a link back here in your blog post or flickr photo page.
Oh my goodness are you ever busy! Those dresses are adorable. The tile in the kitchen is beautiful. It makes such a difference, those little things.
ReplyDeleteNo linky-link, just a great big CONGRATS on tonight's graduation and prayers for a blessed rest-of-May. I'm always sad to see this month end but in heaven, it will be eternal.
ReplyDeleteIf you know what I mean. :)
Big Congratulations to your graduate and his parents!!
ReplyDeleteYour tiling looks great! :)
Your PITA project looks great. Thanks for the pic. I was wondering what it looked like.
ReplyDeleteWe are also adding a little tile to the kitchen wall....HOWEVER...we are hiring it out..so not so PITA for us.
Congrats to the graduate. Prayers for his future.
Yes, you are very busy! Love the mirror, love the tile, love the tops. No love for the chin. Does every child have to do that?
ReplyDeleteHappy Graduation Day!
That cake looks fantastic!! I would have licked it too. :)
ReplyDeleteAnd the tiles and tops are lovely too . . . the chin, not so much. Ouch!
Congrats to your grad and happy weekend! :)
That cake is awesome, Barbara! WOW!! What little girl wouldn't love that for her birthday cake?!
ReplyDeleteYour home projects look awesome, too. I like the tile back splash A LOT. And of course those ruffly tops are adorable.
Congratulations to the graduate and his parents! ENJOY the celebration!
That cake looks great!!! Wow!!
ReplyDeleteLove the tiles, they look great, as does that jam!!! Yummy!
I just about threw up when I saw the stitches....I'm a little queasy now you know.
Love the new header picture, beautiful!
That mirror is going to be lovely! Quite impressive.
ReplyDeleteI was just thinking about freezer jam today. Will I see a recipe on Bless Us O Lord in the future?
Really like the tiled mirror and the new kitchen tile. I'm glad I don't have to do that anytime soon ... although someday I want to do our backsplash, too.
ReplyDeleteThe stitches were hard to look at. Ouch!
Cute, cute tops.
Jenny,
ReplyDeleteYou are so right about the little things making such a difference. Truly it looks like a different kitchen. :-)
Thanks, Maggie. Last night was a beautiful event. So very moving. Now we're on to a wedding today. More later.
Thank you, Cheryl.
Christine -- you are smart to hire tile out. My husband THINKS he can do it all. I guess technically he did it, but there was a bit of, um, anger.
Sara,
This is the first of my children to do that! His second stitches.
Thanks, Aimee. I hope your recovery is going well. I was up late last night waiting for my grad to come home from the grad party and thought about you. Bet you were up too!
Thanks Sarah. We have celebrating planned for a while!
Oh, Jamie. I hope you are kidding! Sorry about your tummy. ;-)
Yes, Kristina. I will post the recipe!
Thanks, Suzie. I will post more about the tops later with a link to a tutorial.
Wonderful cake! My sister brought over sure-jell so strawberry jam is on our agenda tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteWhere to start??? The tile projects, the cake....! Really incredible!
