Have no anxiety at all, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God. Then the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

Prom night

.

My 19 year old "little boy" is at his senior prom with the love of his life. This time around is a little different for me because he is in love. For real.

I'll be up late tonight waiting up. And then I'll sleep with one eye open because she'll be under our roof. Maybe I should go take a nap.

More pics to come. Later.

  1. I'm sure you're still waiting up. So many memories flood our hearts at times like these; first cry, first word, first tooth, first steps. We remember long serious conversations and laughter, watching them while they sleep, caring for their tummyaches, skinned knees, and wounded psyches. We wonder sometimes if we'll ever make it through, and then -- suddenly -- we have. And because we've done such a great job, we're not needed in that capacity anymore. How strange. Surely the Blessed Mother understands. May all the love you've sown in this young man be multiplied back to you a thousand times over. Good morning, Barbara!

  2. I hope the prom went well, that a good (and safe) time was had by all, and that everyone had a restful night! What a lovely picture!

  3. Rosemary,
Thank you for your kind comment. I hope that one day I can feel so accomplished in my parenting so as to not be needed...at least not in the immediate sense. For the time being? Well, my son called me from the other side of the city (not where he was supposed to be) in the wee hours of the morning and he was lost. Neither he nor his poor girlfriend had a clue where they were! Luckily they weren't far from the freeway and I could talk them there. Still needed for now!

He made it home, Barb. Late, but safe! (Yawn)

  4. Of course we're always needed--just not in the same way! :) Our sons are now 42(almost), 39, and 36 years old. Two are married, and there are seven grandchildren. Your post took me back many years in my musings. I'm glad everyone made it home, safe and sound!

  6. ah, young love. so beautiful!
they look so lovely. (baby-faced, but grown up.) these are such tender years. so glad to see that he came home safe. praying for you mama, that you have the grace to get thru this big boy chapter...the senior year...i say that with a sigh as i just sent my big boy off again. for seven days. to a fire explorer academy. that's his love right now. and i'm ok with that for the moment. can't wait to see more pics! this is probably one thing i miss with homeschooling... my kids won't get to experience things like prom! but i can do without one more reason to lose sleep at nite!! :)
xo. get good rest today. you deserve it!
