Have no anxiety at all, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God. Then the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

Daybook...Holy Week

.
Outside my window...

...Springish weather. It stormed on Saturday and the temps dropped drastically. It's now a bit warmer and I think it might rain all day. Good by me.

I am thinking...

...about Holy Week. Each year the last week of Lent brings something new, always something unpredicted. I have learned I don't need to plan any penance, it will find me. I had that root canal done on Friday and my mouth is still very sore. I am thinking that tooth pain was really not what I expected for Holy Week.

I am thankful for...

...Sunday dinner with good wine

...good priests (and another good homily)

...hot coffee

...quiet Monday morning

...a full pantry, a stocked fridge

...a warm, dry house

...our health

From the lesson plans...

...As much as I'd like to push this week, I don't think it's going to happen. I think school from the sofa today. We will spend a little time each day watching the Gospel of John. No school on Friday.

From the kitchen...

...soft foods for mom. Crockpot Corned Beef and vegetables for dinner.

I am wearing...

...khaki trousers, a blue blouse, haflinger clogs.

I am creating...

...another top-down cotton sweater -- this time a cardigan for Doug's niece. I have almost finished the body. I also have so many rosary orders to fill. Unfortunately I can only make about one a day. We must eat. Clothes must be washed. School must be taught! ;-)

I am reading...

... I'm on the last chapter of To Kill a Mockingbird. I should be able to finish it up today. A dear new friend sent me A Thousand Gifts. I think it is appropriate to start it this week.

I am hoping...

...for a quiet day. A quiet week. A contemplative week. A Mary week. As opposed to my normal Martha activity.

I am hearing...

...the television tuned to a preschool cartoon breaking the peace I had just a few moments ago. Faith likes preschool cartoons. Odd.

Around the house...

...palm crosses, rosaries, some clutter from the weekend laying around. I wish I could say I have plans to clean the entire house this week, but I don't. Our spring break is next week and hopefully it will get done then. It is appropriate, I think, that next week be the Martha week.

I am going...

...to do our city taxes today and then make a run to the Post Office.

One of my favorite things...

...Holy Week. Much of the world will stop this week and pay attention.

I am praying for...

...my children and my husband

...my niece Rachel. She will have in-hospital radiation therapy first of May.

...Doug's Uncle Walt who, after learning he will have to undergo chemo treatment for bladder cancer, and have his bladder removed, also has kidney cancer. Such a heavy cross.

...my priests

...several soldiers

...all of the babies whose mothers are contemplating abortion this week.

A few plans for the rest of the week...

...no plans, just a mind open to where God leads.

Thought for the day...
From the Divine Intimacy:
"Jesus therefore, six days before the Pasch, came to Bethany … and they made Him a supper there; and Martha served…. Mary, therefore, took a pound of ointment of right spikenard, of great price, and anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped His feet with her hair." Martha, as usual, was busy about many things. Mary, however, paid attention only to Jesus; to show respect to Him, it did not seem extravagant to her to pour over Him a whole vase of precious perfume.
