Have no anxiety at all, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God. Then the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

Daybook...the lazy Monday version

.
 Outside my window...

...cold -- 28 degrees and partly sunny. It's one of those deceiving sorts of days that looks really nice but isn't. March is most definitely not going out like a lamb.

I am thinking...

...that this morning is going to be slow.

It's almost 9 o'clock and all I've done is eat a piece of toast and drink some coffee. About five minutes after I got up this morning (several hours ago) I got a migraine. I must have accidentally glanced at a light -- that's all it takes. After Joshua left for school I lay on the sofa with my eyes closed until it was time to chat with Geoffrey on his way to class at 8:15. Then I got up and made toast. And here I am.

I am thankful for...

...Monday morning quiet and a hot cup of coffee

...catch-up weekends

...Sunday Mass

...Turbo Tax

...ibuprofen

...hot coffee (yes, twice thankful)

...the washing machine (can you imagine washing clothes by hand?)

From the lesson plans...

...still pushing through, focusing more on Latin because I really want Noah to finish LCII, and math. Noah is starting The Legend of Sleepy Hollow this week and hopefully Faith will finish up Little House in the Big Woods. It seems we've been reading it forever. She, unfortunately, is not an eager reader. Now recess... she has mastered.

From the kitchen...

...grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup for lunch, scrambled eggs and Nigella's Breakfast Bruschetta with fresh fruit for dinner. I need to bake bread before dinner.

I am wearing...

...a pink nightgown and slippers. I don't know how long it will be before I wash and dress...it is a lazy Monday, after all.

I am creating...

...some Remember to Pray bracelets and several rosaries are waiting on me. I need to make some clay beads for one of them. I am waiting on yarn to finish Faith's sweater and I ordered another Knitting Pure and Simple pattern to make Doug's niece a cardigan. Never short on projects around here.

I am reading...

... Everything is Grace by Joseph Schmidt, FSC. I need to return this book to my mother-in-law, so I better hurry it up. I need to read The Legend of Sleepy Hollow with Noah because it's been a while and Joshua has a paper due in April on To Kill a Mockingbird, so I think I better read that one again, too.

I am hoping...

...for peace among the two children at home and a relatively quiet day. I'm overly sensitive to noise when I have a migraine.

I am hearing...

...a cartoon on Boomerang Faith is watching. It's at least an old-fashioned cartoon and not as obnoxious as, say, Spongebob.

Around the house...

...washing whites today, and folding clothes that were washed over the weekend and are hanging downstairs. The bedrooms are pretty clean but the downstairs bath needs washed up.

I am going...

...to really focus on what needs to be done today, and stay off the computer for the most part (if I tell myself this then sometimes I do it).

One of my favorite things...

...tax refunds. I did our taxes this weekend with TurboTax and we will get a nice refund. I think my husband has it all spent, however, on appliances and machines. After he told me he wanted a wood chipper, I said, "Over my dead body -- which you will then chip and shred." He laughed but he still wants it.

I am praying for...

...my children, my husband, my niece, Doug's Uncle Walt who is having another surgery on Wednesday for bladder cancer, several priests and soldiers, and all of the babies whose mothers are contemplating abortion this week.

An update on my niece -- her surgery went well. She spent one night in the hospital and is home, resting. I really hope she follows the doctor's orders. She will have to heal for about 6 to 8 weeks before she will get the radioactive iodine treatment.

A few plans for the rest of the week...

...just a dental appointment for the children and the usual drum lessons. We are on break from gym class for a few weeks.

Thought for the day...

"Let the mouth fast from disgraceful and abusive words, because, what gain is there when, on the one hand we avoid eating chicken and fish and, on the other, we chew-up and consume our brothers? He who condemns and blasphemes is as if he has eaten brotherly meat, as if he has bitten into the flesh of his fellow man. It is because of this that Paul frightened us, saying: 'If you chew up and consume one another be careful that you do not annihilate yourselves.'"  -- St. John Chrysostom

  3. Thanks, Sara. They are not terribly painful, but it's kind of nagging thing and makes me tired by the end of the day.

    Rosemary,
I appreciate your prayers, both for me and Rachel. You are so kind.
