Have no anxiety at all, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God. Then the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.
Phil 4:6-7

5/52

.
52 weeks of daily life in pictures: trials and celebrations,
the extraordinary and mundane --
whatever is unique to the week.
Join me if you like.
 Last weekend we had a dinner party for our priests.
Sadly I got no pics before or during -- just the clean-up!

~~~~~
Weather seemed to be a dominating theme this week.
Red Maple buds encased in ice.
 Crazy kid went skating in bare feet.
And shorts. And a short-sleeved shirt.
Don't tell Leila.
I'm sorry Leila -- when they are bigger than me,
they are on their own with proper winter attire!
~~~~~

The Candlemas table.
It was such a pleasure to have candles lit all day.
I vow to do it more often.

 My new favorite little boy gift.
All the little boys on my list this year will get this book and a mess kit.
Good stuff!

The sun finally came out yesterday -- I think it was the first time all week.

"Blow, blow, thou winter wind
Thou art not so unkind,
As man’s ingratitude."
- William Shakespeare

Below you'll find a linky list because so many lovely women decided to join me in my 52 Weeks project. There are no rules (except the two below) -- if you want to start your 52 Weeks this week, go for it! I will keep the links up until next Wednesday, so you have almost a week to do it.

(1) Make sure you copy and paste the URL of your 52 Weeks blog post ( and not your main blog URL). You could also use of Flickr photo page if that's how you do things.
(2) Include a link back here in your blog post or flickr photo page.

  4. I've had the book on my wishlist for a while ... maybe I'll order it for my soon-to-be-8 boy.

    The winter/ice pics are beautiful. Just love to see nature all glitzed up.

  5. The ice photos are very pretty! I'm sure that storm will be a very memorable part of this 5th week of 2011! And I really like that boys book, too. I gave it to my nephews for Christmas. And I look forward to the day my boys will enjoy it.

    Enjoy the sunshine! I hope it lasts awhile.

    P.S. Thanks for the simple directions for blocking. I will have to give it a try. I just never know which projects need blocking and which do not ...

  6. Barb,
    Little Brother is the perfect age!

    Christine, That boy is hot all the time! I think his thermostat is broken. ;-)

    Thank you, Allison. My camera stinks for distance but has a great close-up lens. I had to closer than I wanted to get the maple bud pic -- it was cold out! But those buds encased in ice are so pretty.

    Suzi, I bought the book for my husband's nephew and he just turned 9 -- a great age to start learning about making fires for cooking and learning to do some basic "necessary" sewing. The mess kit and campers utensil set were great accessories.

    Sarah -- It's been a very sunny day today and some of the ice is melting even though it's still very cold out.

    I have found that almost all projects benefit from blocking. The stitches look neater and more uniform after blocking -- even when you don't think they look bad to begin with.
