Have no anxiety at all, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God. Then the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

Yarning Along...

.

...with Ginny.

I've been a busy knitter lately.

I finished up my uncle's hat last week (you can see it here -- I used Knit Picks' Worsted yarn in Squirrel Heather and Knit Picks' DK Gloss in black with the Thorpe pattern, which I love knitting because oddly enough I love using dpns -- I say oddly because I'm generally an uncomplicated person) and then I crocheted a baby hat. Last night during the Ohio State game (Sugar Bowl) I cast on and worked on a scarf for myself, knitting until I couldn't keep my eyes open any more and went to bed before the game was over. (Hurray Buckeyes!)

I'm using the same pattern I used for my son's girlfriend's scarf -- k1p1. I cast on 31 stitches and I'll knit the knits and purl the purls for the length of the scarf. I love how it feels so thick (because the purls are scrunched up between the knits). The yarn is Knit Picks' Shine Worsted in Creme Brulee. Don't you love the idea of wrapping creme brulee around your neck? (tee hee) The yarn is really soft, which is apparently what the Modal Beech Wood Fiber does for the blend. It does separate a bit, like cottons do, however, so I'm glad I'm using my Harmony needles, which are really pointed.

My read is Meet Edith Stein, a book about St. Theresa Benedicta, which begins when she was a child. It is really easy reading and very interesting. Edith Stein was very different from me -- she was quite a feminist and very liberal in her thinking. I suppose that's how she broke away from her Jewish faith and became a Carmelite nun (not that Jews aren't liberal thinking or feminist, or that Carmelite nuns are liberal thinking or feminists, but that she felt free to break out of her personal constraints). I'm only about a third of the way through the book and I look forward to reading the rest.

I'm so glad that Ginny started Yarn Along. I can never remember what yarns I have used for projects, nor can I remember what books I've read and here I am documenting both. Yeah Ginny!
