Have no anxiety at all, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God. Then the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

Daybook... and a Winner

.

Outside my window...
...still cold, still winter, no big surprises. Much snow in the forecast this week. We shall see...

I am thinking...
...about a dental appointment I have this morning. I scheduled a cleaning and a repair for the same time because it's the only way I'll get both done. Can I tell you I'd rather have major surgery than dental work? There is just something about someone touching my teeth. I'm really trying to be brave but I am leaving open the possibility of N2O.

I am thankful for...
...a wonderful dinner on Saturday with our parish priests. Dinner was wonderful (if I do say so myself), the conversation was wonderful, the children were wonderful (for which I am most grateful), and hopefully they'll come back. ;-)

From the lesson plans...
...Week 20 and it's time to do lesson plans.

...Noah took the scholarship exam at the high school he will attend next year and I think he might take his lessons a little more seriously from now on. He said the math was easy but he didn't say much else. We didn't seriously think he would get one of the very few scholarships, but it would be nice if he kicked it up a notch in school for the remainder of the year.

...more times tables for Faith. She is getting it, but it's slow -- much, much, much slower than MCP takes it. That's o.k., that's what homeschooling is all about (repeat that 50 times a day).

From the kitchen...
...I am going to make Split Pea Soup in the crock pot, because a soft, comforting meal is definitely going to be needed after my dental appointment. I mentioned the menu to my husband last night, however, and he made gagging noises. I told him he better bring home pizza if that's his attitude. I'll eat Split Pea Soup, thanks.

I am wearing...
...black trousers, a cobalt blue turtle neck and a soft gray sweater jacket type thing. Plus MM earrings. And a pocket rosary for my appointment.

I am creating...
...still working on my niece's scarf but it's almost finished. I need to make some rosaries later this week.

I am reading...
...Everything is Grace by Joseph Schmidt, FSC. I just started it, but it looks really good. How could it not be? It's about St. Therese of Lisieux.

I am hoping...
...for no pain today.

I am hearing...
...my space heater and the shower upstairs --  Joshua left earlier, Doug is getting ready, and the other two are still in bed. I have to wake the other two around 8 to make it to their orthodontist appointment. I think donuts are in order this morning.

Around the house...
...a little bit of laundry and some ironing. Everything else is pretty clean from our dinner party with our priests.

I am going...
...I think I might have mentioned that I have a dental appointment. Did I also mention that I'd rather have major surgery? Not funny, I know. But seriously....

One of my favorite things...
...leaving the dentist's office.

I am praying for...
...my children, my niece, Fr. Tomasek, several dear friends, four soldiers, in particular, and all of the babies whose mothers are contemplating abortion today.

A few plans for the rest of the week...
...after today, just homeschool gym and drum lessons; maybe the grocery fairy (me) will deliver to campus before the "big" snow storm hits.

Thought for the day...
...from St. John Bosco, feast day January 31. It was difficult to chose just one, but this is a good one...

When tempted, invoke your Angel. he is more eager to help you than you are to be helped! Ignore the devil and do not be afraid of him: He trembles and flees at the sight of your Guardian Angel. -- St. John Bosco

And the winner of The Priests is...

I am sorry to everyone else who entered but I asked the Blessed Mother to guide my hand to pick the right one, and the right one is, apparently,  Sarah.

I also hate the dentist. I always hope my intentions get a ton of souls out of purgatory when I sit in that chair.

  6. Well, many prayers for you appointment! I don't mind the dentist, actually. I LOATHE ear doctors (understandably because of having five ear surgeries since I was age 5-15 . . . I still can't stand it when folks whisper in my ear. I want to say, "why don'tcha just spit on me for heaven'sakes?!?!). Yes, my ears are off limits!

I am SO EXCITED to win this CD!!!! You have no idea!!!! Whooooo hooooo!!! I do now what Hawaiian's say when they are excited. EEEEEEEEEaiiiaooooouuuulawawala.

Just kidding. I'm very excited. Plus, I had a delicious latte and am on caffeine overload.

I'm also excited 'cos I didn't win Regan's give away so to win this one is double excitement! Thank God I was so gracious in my comments over there. LOL!!!

    Many blessings!

  7. I really need to calm down when I type. I meant that I do not know what Hawaiian's say when they are excited, but it probably is a long word with many vowels. ;)
