...gorgeous cloudless blue sky, 47 degrees F although it feels a bit chillier. We haven't had rain in a while though, so I could stand a rainy day this week (never completely happy with the weather, am I?).
Outside my window...
I started this daybook entry during the day, but am just now finishing it this evening.
Outside my window...
I am thinking......the church Triumphant...all the saints in heaven, especially those who are not named. All Saints, pray for us!
I am thankful for......no vomit this morning. My All Saints Day started, in the wee hours of the morning, with Faith sick in bed, or over the side of the bed, to be more precise (I hope you're not eating). Ugh. I'm also thankful for a husband who can clean vomit out of the carpet without himself vomiting (which I don't think I can do). I cleaned up the child and the bed, and got the bowl (basin). Fortunately no more since the sun came up.
Today I purchased a carpet cleaner. It's been needed for a long time. Last night was the last straw.
From the lesson plans......a new quarter for Noah. Remarkably he got his book report done last week, when it was scheduled (under threat of no Friday night football). Now we have a clean slate from which to start. Faith is spending the day in bed, so no lessons for her until tomorrow.
From the kitchen......I smell the Pumpkin Scones that just came out of the oven -- for the family I'm taking dinner to tonight and for Doug's co-workers tomorrow -- they are their Soul Cakes. We had our Soul Cakes last night and they were yummy. Tonight's dinner is Shepherd Pie and Hearth Bread.
I am wearing......my favorite charcoal gray trousers, a French blue turtleneck, so-so gray socks (not my fave), and black loafers.
I am creating......a baby cap, a baby quilt, the same seaman's cap as last week, and several rosaries. If I could only find the time to work on them.
I am reading......Fatherless -- I am almost finished. Maybe one more night. Most evenings I just can not keep my eyes open one more minute, even though I really want to read on.
I am hoping......that the buzzing I have had in my head for the last 24 hours is not permanent. I can't imagine what started it, but it's a low-pitched sound that is similar to the loud bass you might hear in a teenager's car. I've scoured the house looking for any device that might make this sound but have come up with nothing. The odd thing is I hear it even if I plug my ear, which to me, does not seem like a good sign.
I am hearing......besides the buzzing, Maggie is woofing at something outside -- probably Noah.
Around the house......laundry, besides vomit clothes and bedding, there was a lot of laundry that did not get done this weekend.
I am going......to my first True Devotion to Mary class on Wednesday. Our associate pastor is leading the class and I have a feeling I'm really going to enjoy it. I'm not usually a joiner like this...but how can I go wrong with Mary?
One of my favorite things......November. I may actually like it better than October. It's the month of my wedding, and my husband's birthday.
I am praying for......three soldiers now, Kimberly, the same little mama who was expecting a delivery last week...so many others, all on my rosary.
A few plans for the rest of the week......a few appointments, one of which is with the dishwasher repairman. Yea!
A picture thought......All Saints Day decorations.
I used a votive candle holder I already had and cut lengths of heavy gauge (20 gauge, I think) aluminum wire, made a tight spiral at one end and wrapped the other end around the back of the candle frame. I then slid the holy cards into the spirals. It doesn't hold a lot of cards, but I got in all the patron saints and a few extra greats.
I'll do the same tomorrow with our family's funeral cards. It's sitting upon the mantle.
