...gone the sun
From the lakes, from the hills, from the skies
All is well, safely rest;
God is nigh.

I love Taps. I wish someone at my house would learn to play Taps every day at sunset.
"Don't wish your life away," my mother used to say.
We had a good day here. How 'bout you?
We stayed home. All day. We did a little school in the morning. I did a lot of laundry -- five or six loads. I ironed for two or three hours. I made three meals and homemade bread. I read a really good book. That's my idea of a really good day.
It was beyond hot and humid out so we stayed in. The kids watched The Iron Giant while I ironed. They love that move. Yes, it's a little bit of a message movie, but it's tolerable. And it has Harry Connick Jr. even if he is a cartoon character.
We had yummy Chicken and Artichokes (known as Fripp Chicken) for dinner with yummy homemade bread. Then, I left the house and had a teacher's meeting at Panera with my girlfriend (one of the perks of teaching is teacher's meetings dontcha know?). When I came home my little liebchen was in bed and the dishes were washed and put away.
Happy day. Happy, happy day. I hope yours was too.
G'night.

Yesterday was a good day to stay home all day, except for Emergency Teacher's Meetings. I can't see what you were reading as the link is broken. It wasn't Betsy-Tacy was it??? ;-)
ReplyDeleteYou're such an inspiration Barbara, I don't think I'd ever consider a day which included so much ironing good! ;)
ReplyDeleteSara -- I fixed the link, and it was not Betsy-Tacy. I finished Betsy-Tacy long ago and I guess I owe you a book review!
ReplyDeleteHa Deborah -- I'm odd that way. (And I really don't mind ironing except that I have to stand to do it.)
Yes, that DOES sound like a perfect day! Good for you, Barbara, you deserve it.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a very good day indeed.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to have to figure out some kind of meetings I can have at Panera :)
