Our Lord Didn't Mince Words
.
"I am the living bread that came down from heaven; whoever eats this bread will live forever; and the bread that I will give is my flesh for the life of the world." John 6:51
HEEM, Jan Davidsz. de Eucharist in Fruit Wreath 1648
By the way, isn't that the picture they put on the cover of Magnificat for June? My dear MIL got a year's subscription for me and it seems like the image is familiar. Quite appropriate to have such abundance all around the Host and Chalice. LOVELY!
i love that picture. it hangs in my dining room above the Last Supper. i love those words even more! i have been reading this little book called Holy Eucharist Hidden Godhead and it is filled with prayers, quotes and info on the Blessed Sacrament. Good Stuff, That Bread come down from heaven is. i simply can't live without it!
Oh, how I love those words. And that painting.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely day!
