Have no anxiety at all, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God. Then the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

Darnitall

.

(I actually didn't say that...it was a tad worse.)

For the 8000th time, I just ruined a shirt with bleach spots. Any suggestions? Have you ever tried to redye clothes ruined that way?

  1. Oh, sorry! I hate that, but I'm happy to say I haven't done it in a very long time now. When I use bleach now, I put my detergent in and then use the detergent cup and hold it in the washer while I pour the bleach, and put it in the bottom of the washer. Then I run the water and put the clothes in. No more splashes while I pour! That pesky "bleach dispenser" on the corner of my washer is to close to my clothes! Plus, it actually developed a leak and the bleach runs out the bottom of the machine---it doesn't even make it to the tub!

Let me know if you try dye. I never have.

  2. Sara,
I actually did it while I was cleaning the kitchen sink. I asked my son (that was my mistake) to run to the basement and get the bleach. He gave it a little shake before he handed it to me and the cap wasn’t on tight. It splashed out and spotted my shirt. It was one of my favorites, too. I can’t tell you how many favorite shirts I’ve ruined that way. I should stop buying bleach, but what would I clean my kitchen sink with — it does such a nice job. Maybe next time I use it I’ll strip down to nothing — that would teach everyone in my house a lesson about being careful with bleach!! :-)

    Haha!

  3. I guess you'll have to just go all Dominican and wear nothing but white?

Sorry, I have no suggestions. Just ruined a favorite pair of pants last week with bleach, so I do have sympathy for you.

  4. That would be the solution, Barb, if I weren't such a sloppy cook always forgetting to put on an apron. I either stain my clothes with food while cooking dinner, or with bleach. Maybe I should hire a maid. Ha!

  5. No solution other than to stop buying bleach and products with bleach in it. I'm constantly spotting my shirts - I use a scrub in the tub with bleach - I've learned the hard way to wear a WHITE tee when cleaning. The other problem I have is when I hold our cat. Her hind claw digs into my stomach and leaves a hole right by my bellybutton. Nice! I rarely pick her up any more. I cannot aford to keep buying new shirts. Drop the cat, no problem.

  6. So sorry to hear that! I've had this happen more than once and it's always a disappointment to find those white spots on a favorite colored garment.

By the way, I found your blog when I clicked on my Maeve Binchy link. I thought I'd see who else out there reads her. So hello from a fellow fan:)

  7. Sarah -- to heck with the shirt -- how 'bout your skin? Yeeouch!!

    Lawfrog,
Did you find me through Goodreads or Library Thing? Yes, I love Maeve Bichy!

  8. Oh, dear! Yes, I ruined my favorite brown sweater when sleep-deprived at 3 A.M. I grabbed the bleach bottle instead of the liquid detergent, trying to do a quick small load so I'd have something to wear to work a few hours later. It turned an uneven splotchy orange, and redying it was unsuccessful. I need to wear it when I use bleach again. :) Rosemary
